Oprah's Favorite Things for 2013
Oprah Looking Lovely in Red
Maybe Oprah no longer has her TV show but that doesn't stop her from being able to give out her list of her favorite things for Christmas 2013! You will find the whole list in the December copy of O Magazine.
Her list, as usual, has everything from the expensive to the inexpensive. She listed a wine from Target for only $13 as well as a box of Truffles that costs $500. Evidently, Rita Wilson is the lucky recipient of these delightful goodies.
If you love to read, but don't want to keep buying books, the Kindle Paperwhite is the next best thing. I have the original Kindle and I love it. I seem to spend more time reading now that I have one.
Oprah mentioned that it isn't about how much money we spend on a gift but more about the thought behind it that counts. A gift should mean something to the receiver as well as the giver.
Oprah use to have a show every Christmas with a list of her favorite things. Who can forget all the excitement that was generated in the audience when she let them know that they were the lucky ticket holders of her annual special. She gave away everything from electronics to cars and the audience just went wild for everything she had to give.
I'm not sure who was more excited with the show: Oprah or her audience. It seemed to me that she got just as big a kick out of being able to surprise her audience as the audience did in being the lucky ones that year.
I think Oprah has the right attitude when it comes to being generous as I too believe that the giver gets a lot out of being able to give a gift to someone that can make a change in their life. And, it makes for good karma as well!
Gift Wrapping Ideas!
You don’t have to spend a lot of money when it comes to wrapping your Christmas gifts this year. Look around the house and see what you can use instead of expensive wrapping paper.
One idea is to use kraft paper. Use some festive tape and ribbon or string. Add a candy cane or a small Christmas decoration and you have a beautifully wrapped gift.
Another idea is to use recycled tissue paper. Cut out some colored pictures from magazines or a clip-art book and glue them to the paper. Add stickers and tag for a nice touch.
If you have children, get them to draw or color some Christmas designs on paper and then use it to wrap gifts for the family. This gets them involved and makes the gift even more special for aunts and uncles or grandparents.
If you like to recycle old clothes, you can always take a shirt and cut it up to use for wrapping a gift. Use an old brooch or ribbon to add some flare to your gift.
