Paris Themed Birthday Party Ideas

Updated on August 12, 2014

If you are looking for a unique and fun theme for your next party, then I got the perfect one for you. How about a Parisian Themed Party?! A great party theme for any age.

I have found a wonderful selection of items I thought would go great with this theme. I also included food ideas and other cool stuff. This has honestly become one of my favorite themes. Hope you enjoy!

French Berets

Costumes are always fun to have at any party. Dress up as a French Man and wear a cool beret. Adults will appreciate the black beret while kids will love the colorful ones. Don't forget to wear a fake black mustache. One that is self adhesive. Does not apply to men who are lucky enough to grow one! A black and white striped shirt and a red handkerchief tied around the neck completes the look.

Party Balloons - You can't have a party without balloons!

When have you seen a party without balloons? Almost never. They always make the party look more festive and fun. Just don't pop any balloons around me!

I like mixing different colors and designs. Just like the balloons to your left. I usually place balloons behind the cake table or in corners of the room. What about you?

Party Paper Cups

Every party needs cups to serve refreshments and drinks. But decorative paper cups can also be used for other purposes as well. They can be filled with yummy snacks and placed on the tables or filled with candy and wrapped in transparent wrapping paper for guests to take home as a souvenir.

Eiffel Tower Table Décor

It's not a Paris themed birthday party without an Eiffel Tower or two. Place Eiffel Tower decorations on the guest or cake tables. They can even be used as party favors.

This centerpiece features black Eiffel Towers and gold stars. I think it would go great with the whole, "A night in Paris party theme".

Although these are plastic cups with straws, I think they would also make awesome decorations for the tables at a girls party.

Eiffel Tower and Paris Cafe Cakes

The two gorgeous cakes below would make a great addition to any Parisian Themed Party. Both cakes were made by Cakes With L.O.V.E.

The details on the Eiffel Tower Cake are incredible. It really does look like the actual Eiffel Tower from Paris. I love how they added lights to the cake.

And we can't forget the beautiful three-tier round Paris Cafe cake. Believe it or not, all the painting was done freehand. Amazing!

Paris Theme Candles - My birthday wish....to be in Paris!

You can't sing happy birthday or make a wish without any candles. These birthday candles remind me of fashion. Something Paris is definitely known for.

Dinner and Dessert Paper Plates

Who wants to wash plates at a Birthday Party?! No one, exactly. That is why party plates are a must at any party. The two most commonly used plates are the dinner and dessert plates. Knowing the difference between the two is very important. You don't want to end up with dessert plates if you are wanting to serve big meals.

French Food Ideas

It wouldn't be a Parisian Themed Party without any french food. The list below features food that either originated and/or is very popular in France. All would make great party food.

  • Baguettes: A baguette is a long, thin loaf of bread with a crusty exterior. They are eaten alone, with a spread (such as butter or jam) or as a sandwich.
  • French Macarons: Don't confuse these with whoopie pies! French macarons have a crisp outer shell, and a moist chewy interior with a sweet filling.
  • Croissants: A croissant is a light, flaky and buttery pastry that many people love to fill with ham and cheese. They are also eaten with sweet fillings, such as jam.
  • Madeleines: Although they look like cookies, they are not. Madeleines are actually spongy little cakes baked in a special pan that gives them their unique scalloped shell shape. Madeleines are great for dipping in tea, coffee, milk and even chocolate.
  • Quiche Lorraine: Quiche lorraine is a savory custard tart that is filled with bacon, cheese and cream.
  • Saucisson Sec: Saucisson sec is a dry, cured, pork sausage. Can be cut into thin slices and served with cheese, bread or crackers.
  • Petit Fours: Petit fours are bite-sized cakes that have multiple layers and are covered in fondant.
  • Frieda's French Style Crepes: A crepe is a very thin pancake that the French love to fill with sweet or savory dishes. Sweet dishes can include fresh fruit pieces, whipped cream, lemon curd, powdered sugar, fruit jams and even nutella. Savory dishes include cheese, meat, and/or vegetables. I love to fill my crepe with strawberries, whip cream and lemon curd...yummy!
  • Brie: Brie is a soft, mild and creamy cheese with an edible white rind. It is used as a spread for crackers, toast and bread. Goes great with a nice glass of whine and fruit.
  • Chocolate Eclairs: A chocolate eclair is an oblong pastry filled with cream and topped with a chocolate icing. If you like Boston Creme Pie, then you will definitely love chocolate eclairs.

Homemade Cookies - ohh la la...

Everyone loves homemade cookies. Well, I know I do! They make for fun treats at any party.

Marian from Sweetopia.net has made an awesome video on How to Dry Cookies Decorated with Royal Icing. You will also see how she manually decorated some of the beautiful cookies below. My favorite are the eiffel tower cookies.

You will definitely need a cookie cutter if you are thinking of making the Eiffel Tower cookies.

They can be served alone and/or used as cupcake toppers.

Pink Poodle Pinata

Watching someone try desperately to hit a decorative box figure full of candy while blind folded and the reaction of the kids when all the candy drop is priceless. That is why I love piñatas. This pink poodle piñata is so cute. It can also serve as decoration. It measures 20 inch high, 5 inch wide and 18 inch long and can hold up to 3 pounds of toys and candy.

Bonjour!
