Pearl Jewelry : Best Elegant Women's Gift for Birthday or Any Special Occasion & Why

Updated on January 30, 2016

Do you have any memorable experience of giving gift to special one?

Yes, I have a beautiful memory. Before Christmas , I spent many hours a day to select perfect but inexpensive gifts for my family members. When it came choosing for my favorite daughter, Marlin's gift, I put in more effort. I wanted to buy something special. She is a nature lover, likes music and loves to give surprise to her children and husband adding special dishes to the dinner table, at the weekends.

First, I thought about some electric gadgets. Then I thought that it would not be any thing special. Mrs. Mathew, my neighbor suggested me for precious gems jewelry. It helped me to get the right track. Yes, Marlin has a great collection of adorable jewelries. So, I decided to get a nice pearl set for her.

I did a research about pearls and found many lovely pearl sets, pearl earrings and necklaces on net. First, I selected two pearl sets. One with white pearls and other with pink pearls. I wanted to see her with elegant look at party.

To Make A Pink Pearl Set

To make a pink pearl set I looked for matching earrings. Ultimately I found AAA 7.5-8.0mm Naturally Pink Round Cultured Freshwater Pearl Stud Earring of same brand. The pearls have an amazingly smooth surface, natural color, rich tone, exceptional luster and hints. The standard sized premium 100% solid nacre pearls are treasured for their nearly perfectly round shapes. HinsonGayle's simply stunning ultra-premium pearl earrings are crafted from the highest quality cultured freshwater pearls available in the world. The Stud Earrings are mounted on 14K White Gold Posts. Premium Solid 14K Gold Posts are not hollow or plated. You can select this nice item separately as a teenage girl's gift also.

Both the sets are very exclusive and have ultra shine. But I finally selected the pink set as Christmas gift this year only because of my budget. Hope for the next time purchase.

My daughter was very much thrilled getting the gift pack. She opened the box and only uttered "marvelous!" with a gleeful smile. In the evening party, she decorated her with a white satin dress and the pink pearl set. She was looking outstanding. She was handling all her admirers with a pretty smile. I could realize that my choice was perfect. Thanks - Mathew. Yes, I am very happy and got the result of my utmost effort of choosing gift.

How to shop for pearls - Tips for buying pearls

Take A Look On Short History Of Pearls

Pearl is the only gem produced by using a living creature

The Persian Gulf was one of the main sources of natural pearls. The demand for pearls dropped when diamonds were discovered. Natural pearls were rare and expensive and only reachable to Royals and the very rich and well connected people. By the early 1900s, three Japanese, Kokichi Mikimoto, Tokichi Nishikawa and Tatsuhei Mise discovered the secret of making cultured pearls. It took many years for cultured pearls to be accepted. Now it has been popular all over the world. Jewelry manufacturers are using cultured pearls to make beautiful and attractive fashion jewelries. There are many places across the globe famous for the pearls like China, Japan etc. United States import most of the pearls from China.

Types of cultured pearls:

Cultured pearls are produced by cultivating the oysters and placing the foreign particles beads in the shells of mollusks. They can be cultivated in freshwater and saltwater both.

Freshwater pearls are harvested by mollusks living in freshwater like river, lakes and ponds. They are more durable and highly resistant than saltwater pearls. They are cheaper too.

Saltwater pearls are produced by mollusks that live in oceans, bays, gulfs and seas. The shapes of the pearls formed from saltwater oysters are almost round. Saltwater pearls like Tahitian pearls and South sea pearls are very expensive as cultivation process is costly. Akoya seawater pearls are less expensive.

Great hub about pearls, I just recently purchased a gray baroque necklace and three bracelets. Jewelry is an excellent choice for gift given and a great way to start a conversation. Every piece of jewelry tells a story!
