Christmas is a magical time of year. Virginia makes Christmas merry with gifts, decorating, and entertaining.

Dress up the Christmas and Thanksgiving Table Decor with Place Card Holders

A well-dressed table sets the stage for a festive family gathering for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Holiday place card holders complete the scene. You can make your own for the occasion or buy a set ready to use.

I've found some really cute ones for your turkey day or Christmas Day feasts. In addition, I've included some directions to make your own if you are feeling creative this holiday. Make your Thanksgiving and Christmas table decor as memorable as the meal you place serve when you add these.

This table (below) is missing it's place cards and place card holders... Very pretty otherwise.

Wouldn't Place Card Holders Look Great on This Table

Thanksgiving Placecard Holders

Pumpkin Design Adds a Special Touch to Your Table

A pumpkin is a classic autumn design that puts you in the mood for pie and turkey. These little stands look great for displaying the names.

Memories of Festive Holiday Meals

I grew up in a big family. As we grew to adulthood, we made the effort to be home with our parents and siblings for the holidays. No matter what the occasion, at some point we ended up around that big oak table that my grandparents bought back in the 1920s.

We weren't very formal but did try to dress up the table with a pretty tablecloth or colorful placemats. It didn't occur to us to put place cards or place card holders at each setting.

Now when I set my own table for these special times, my parents or my siblings can't be there. We are too far away. I miss their cheerful chatter and the freewheeling talk around the table.

More often these days, I invite our friends or our neighbors. I like to dress the table up with a floral centerpiece, candles and place card holders. It just feels more special to me.

Maple Leaf Place Card Holders

This set of 4 maple leaf designs set the tone for a festive holiday meal. I would set off their woodsy color by using a gold or orange tablecloth. Just imagine them added to this lovely table. *

A set of 4, so you will need to order multiple sets if you host a big family gathering for the holiday.

Thanksgiving Place Card Holders on eBay

Sometimes you find really unique items on eBay. Take a look at what's showing here, then click through to see additional auctions. Have fun.

Plump Turkey Figures to Decorate the Table

This is a colorful and quirky way to put names at each place. Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grand Dad are available on Amazon. I'm featuring the mom turkey here. Just click on her to see the other figures.

More Turkeys! - Set of 4

These are just fun. Put a small turkey next to each place for Thanksgiving and again at Christmas.

Leading up to the holiday, line up these turkeys in a window or group them with some fall flowers like mums.

Make Thanksgiving Place Card Holders - A Video

Here's a clever idea for you. I must be a visual learner as I like craft videos more than just reading a list of instructions.

Find Great DIY Ideas on Pinterest

I browsed about to find the cutest do-it-yourself place card holders for fall and Thanksgiving. They are pinned on my Pinterest board for your convenience. You'll outdo Martha Stewart with the beauty of your holiday table.

Self-Inking Stamps to Make Thanksgiving Place Cards

Decorate the place cards for the kids' table at Thanksgiving. They will have fun helping you with this. Put a white paper tablecloth on the card table where they will be sitting and let them stamp designs all over it.

My family was so large that there was always a card table or two set up for all the children. Giving them an activity like this keeps them occupied a little longer so the grownups can visit more while they are eating.

These can do double duty as photo holders all winter long. For your holiday feast, I think they would look lovely with this table setting.

Nutcrackers to Display Names at the Table - There are 6 in the set

I love these colorful figures. My neighbor collected full-sized nutcrackers that she displayed each Christmas. She would definitely want these for her holiday table.

Easy-to-make Christmas Place Card Holder - using holly berries

This video is quite brief and you'll love the look of the finished place card holder. So simple to do, that even I can make one.

Other Uses for Place Card Holders - Try These Ideas

  1. Put them on a buffet. Write the names of the different foods on small cards and place them near each food.
  2. Use them to indicate which is the coffee pot with caffine and which is decaf.
  3. Put a family photo in one and put it where you'll see it often (on your desk, by the telephone, on your bedside table)
  4. Write your daily goal on a small card and put it on the place card holder. Place it where you will be reminded throughout the day of your goal.
  5. Keep one in the kitchen to hold a recipe card.

I am looking for the pumpkin place card holders that are on your pintrest board. They look like miniature pumpkins with leaves, berries and the like sticking out of the top. Is this a craft that you found somewhere, or are they available for purchase? They are EXACTLY what i have been looking for. Help, please!

I love the pinecone idea. I think I'd boil them first though due to bugs.

Thanksgiving in Canada is this weekend but I know that you will celebrate it much later than we do. Almost turkey time for you too though.

Honestly, we've never used placecard holders at our holiday table, but I think they really add a nice touch. (I like the Christmas ornament placecard holders on this page the best.) :)

I made my own ones with 3d quilling this year - since I've just taken up quilling my angels were a tiny bit uneven but next year they will be stunning :0)

      I love your selection here.
