Play Silks for Magical Halloween Costumes

Updated on November 13, 2012

Play Silks for Unique Creative Costume Ideas

Play silks have long been a favorite among eco conscious and mindful parents. They are made of natural fibers and hand dyed beautiful colors so that they are appealing to kids and comfortable to wear. Play silks can be used to create a costume for a princes, pirate, gypsy, fairy, King, super hero, pixie, or numerous other magical beings. There are also have wands, hats, and crowns that have play silk streamers. Unlike licensed character costumes that require your children to imitate, play silks can be used to create "new" characters of their own making and design. They are doorways to creative play and they can create the personality and story behind their new persona. Play is incredibly important to a child's healthy development and play silks help to encourage this valuable development. So instead of picking up a boxed character costume rat a big box store see if you can create something special with your child, using play silks.

Yes I am, and happy to find this page. I'd love to see other more eco-friendly costumes. They are so hard to find for the parents (and in my grandparents) who do not have the resources to sew their own.
