Plus Size Halloween Costumes Don't Have to be Boring

Updated on August 22, 2013

As a Plus Size Lady, I want to be cute in my Halloween Costume too

It's a fact of my life - I've been a plus sized woman forever but that doesn't mean I can't dress up for a Halloween party. And, if you're plus size like me, I've done the work for you and have found some of the cutest plus sized Halloween costumes around.

I've always been fairly inventive with my Halloween costumes, mostly because nothing ever fit. There was my Louise Brown Halloween costume - for you young 'uns, Louise Brown was the first test tube baby. I dressed in a flesh color turtleneck, wrapped myself in a diaper sheet (this is before Depends were on the market), did my hair in pigtails and carried a little test tube filled with pink cotton (I told everyone I was babysitting my brother). As I recall, I won the prize at the Halloween Party for best Halloween costume.

Then there was the year I made an apple shaped placard for the front and back and went with another friend in the same outfit. We were Apple Jews...I suppose it loses something in the translation if you don't realize I'm Jewish.

Anyway, this year, I'm planning on having my own Halloween party and will don one of the adorable Halloween costumes for plus size women found on this Squidoo article. And, while I'm at it, I might just buy some sexy underwear for the full figured woman". Come along with me and be cute this Halloween!

Find your inner Goddess this Halloween

Plus Size Greek Goddess Costume

Whether you're a fan of Greek mythology or not, Greek Goddesses were a bit zaftig, so I know I can carry off this Greek Goddess Halloween costume. And, the long flowing gown thing is right up my alley. I also love the blue tinge at the bottom as it draws the eyes down to the beautiful greek looking sandals I may be wearing.

This Greek Goddess Halloween outfit will hide all of the places that you want hidden but show off a decent buxom! And, I look smashing in a tiara...well, a greek headpiece. Whatever.

This Halloween Costume fits sizes 16W to 24W.

Be a Queen of Hearts

The most striking plus sized Halloween costume yet

Off with their heads! If you're interested in making the best of impressions at that Halloween party, this very elaborate Queen of Hearts outfit is just right for you. With the full-length detailed gown printed with hearts and the red velvet accents complete with gold trim, you will certainly make heads turn. Haven't you always dreamed of wearing a hoop skirts complete with tulle petticoat? Then you're "IN!" A black velvet choker and a sequined heart tiara complete this gorgeous Halloween costume.

It is a bit pricey though so steel yourself before you check further.

I'm not quite the fan of pirates that some of my friends are but this pirate wench outfit for a plus sized woman would be beautiful on anyone willing to show some curves.

Set out for buried treasure in this sexy pirate outfit for the plus size woman. If you're lucky, maybe you'll find some family jewels! This outfit includes a red stretch knit off the shoulder dress with cut out sleeves. Lace up those arms for the ultimate in Pirate sexiness with te vinyl forearm cuffs. If you're feeling particularly sexy, take off the removable lace up vinyl corset and wear a pretty bra instead. When you put on your Adult Pirate Wench Plus Costume you'll set out in search for buried treasure you'll end up finding family jewels.

Disco Costume for Women - Disco Diva Plus Size

You can plan on being the bell 'o the ball in this Plus Size Disco Diva. The boots don't come with it but I've included a link to a few beautiful boots below. I would put on some white eye shadow (remember that?) and do my hair up real high in 1960's fashion to go with this great costume. In fact, if I owned this cool Disco Queen outfit, I'd find a few more places to wear it besides a Halloween ball.

Plus size Halloween costumes on was one of the first places I looked in my quest to identify some larger sized Halloween costumes, and, I'm happy to report, I wasn't disappointed. The below are some of my favorite larger sized Halloween outfits.

I could go for that queen of hearts. Maybe I could find a plush Cheshire cat to carry with it for an Alice in Wonderland theme.

Love, love, love the Greek Goddess and the Queen of Hearts. I've done "funny" costumes for years... perhaps it's time for something a little... spicier ;)
