While much of the world is in crisis and economic turmoil, for most of us there is still so much to be thankful for.
I share with you, my Poems of Thanks as well as a selection of books containing poems of thanks. My newest poem is "I Thank God for the Time", a poem that reminds us to cherish time with those we love.

I Thank God for the Time
I thank God for the time we have
With ones we love so dearly
Our memories are a tender salve
When we're bereaved austerely
Use the moments blessed to you
To speak, to listen, to learn
Their wisdom before they say adieu
And earthly life's adjourned
365 Poems of Thanks for Every Day of the Year - Poems by John Kralik
Around the Table
Around the table 'fore you dine
You may say thankful things
Or bow your head in silent mime
For what your fortune brings
Yet know too as you join hands
That many fair not so well
In difficult and desperate lands
Where none of your folks dwell
So appreciate especially
The bounty that you've got
Like vegetables cut freshly
And stew inside your pot
Hold Your Children Close
Hold your children close to you
Whenever they are near
No matter if they tower you
They'll always be quite dear
Be thankful for the hugs you share
For snippets of love exchanged
For we can't always pay the fare
To visit when they have ranged

Say Thank You Little Bird
Say thank you little bird with your warble so sweet
When I change your paper and feed you a treat
I know you appreciate the things that I do
These tasks I enjoy as much as do you
Mother and Father
Mother and Father wherever thou art
I wanted to say hello from my heart
Thank you, my parents, for raising me well
For kissing my booboos whenever I fell
For instilling values to have as I age
And general wisdom; some funny; some sage
As I now have children already grown
I hope for such thanks when I leave them alone

Thanksgiving Day
This day of celebration we
Give thanks for our bounty
Whether snow is on the tree
In our city or our county
We gather with our kin
To enjoy a six course meal
And perhaps let others in
To be warmed by our weal
Would You Recite a Thank You Poem ?
Green Bean Casserole
Pass the green bean casserole
I know I made sufficient
Along with turkey, stuffing, rolls
We cannot be deficient
My daughter loves the taste and crunch
Afforded by this pleasing dish
We've mashed potatoes too, to munch
Our Thanksgiving menu is delish
But fear not; When this casserole's done
And some call out for thirds
I've two more waiting in the oven
To be eaten with the bird
French's French Fried Onion Rings - The Absolutely Essential Ingredient and the Recipe for Green Bean Casserole
When I grew up these were called Durkee Onion Rings but somewhere along the line they became French's.
Still the same. Yum!

Giving Thanks in a Free Country
My amenities may be shallow
I have not a large estate
Yet my larder is not fallow
I have food upon my plate
It would be nice to have more time
And some coin to spend therein
Tho' I'm very thankful every day
For this free country that I'm in
Appreciate the friends you have
And each sweet breath you take
Small blessings are the ready salve
For many a mind or body ache

The House in the Great North Woods
There's a house in the Great North Woods
Where a man and his wife abide
She bakes while he crafts handmade goods
Which they sell both far and wide
When Thanksgiving nears, the shelves are stacked
With pies and cakes and breads
Carved wooden toys and sculptures packed
Or suspended above their heads
Aromas waft throughout the rooms
Of tasty foods and sanded wood
Which banish any hint of gloom
From him and her as they do good
They will till Christmas busy be
In their bustling cozy home
Giving many things to charity
Including a painted garden gnome
Still, weeks before, on Thursday last
Their family makes their way
To reminisce of a happy past
And give thanks on Thanksgiving Day

I Thank the Creator
I thank the Creator for this green earth
That holds me from sailing to the sky
And for all the animals giving birth
To replace the ones that live, then die
For the rainbow petals of all the plants
Verdant mountains with nests of birds
And the ever constant whirling dance
Of what I'm trying to put into words
