I enjoy painting fantasy art, art shows, creating delicious dishes, spending time with my grandkids, taking walks and reading a good book.

Find the Best Pumpkin Patches in Phoenix, Arizona

After moving to the Phoenix area of Arizona to be close to my grandsons, I needed to find the best pumpkin patches to take them to. I love going to the pumpkin patch and any fall festivals that I can find. As you can tell, this is my favorite season and time of the year. The weather is just perfect for taking a trip to the pumpkin patch.

Oh, and my birthday falls just before Halloween. I make it a yearly tradition to carve our pumpkin on Halloween. I have been doing this since I was 16 years old. I have not missed a year yet!

In Phoenix, Arizona there are many pumpkin patches in the area. Many are complete with corn mazes, tractor or train rides, farm animals, farmer's markets and of course, pumpkins. Some are just pumpkin patches where you can go and find that "just right" pumpkin to carve. I love taking the grandsons and watch them run around looking for just the right one for them. This can take awhile but we don't mind since it is a fun time together.

Schnepff Farms - Queen Creek, Arizona

This is the only time the whole working farm is open to everyone. Make plans to spend the day at this pumpkin patch in Queen Creek, Arizona (near San Tan Valley). There is something for everyone.

Our family lives near this farm and it is a fun day event for all of us. The grandparents love helping the young ones find "just the right" pumpkin for them. This location has a wonderful bakery, store and restaurant too. There are plenty of places to sit and eat; we like sitting outside since the weather is so nice this time of year in Arizona.

Find all kinds of pumpkin flavored items to purchase and don't forget to take a pumpkin or two home with you!

On the west side of Phoenix, Arizona, Tolmachoff Farms is the place to go. They have something for all ages. Besides a huge pumpkin patch, they have a corn maze, petting zoo, train ride and play areas for the kids. Like to be scared? Then go to their AZ Field of Screams for a haunted jaunt through the corn maze in the dark. Separate admission for this scary event.

Rated Arizona's best Pumpkin Patch in our local paper, The New Times, Mother Nature's Farm is the place to go to pick out a pumpkin. On October 6, the annual weigh-in contest is held to see who grew the largest pumpkin here in Arizona. Families, groups and tours enjoy this pumpkin patch every year.

Vertuccio Farms Fall Festival - Mesa, Arizona

This is a fun farm that my grandchildren go to every year. It has so many different things for them to do and they always head home with a pumpkin. Whether you just take the children in your family or plan a group trip, this is the place to go. Located in Mesa, just east of Phoenix, it is easy to get to right off Highway 60.

Calling all cowboys and cowgirls! Head to MacDonald's Ranch for their annual Pumpkin Festival. Located in Scottsdale, this ranch as it all. Located right off the 101 freeway on Scottsdale Road, this ranch is easy to find. Plan on spending the day with your family or group since there is so much to do. Their Blazin' Barbecue serves up a mighty fine meal so you won't be hungry after doing all the fun things there are to do at this ranch. Pumpkins are sold in a variety of sizes.

The Great Pumpkin Festival at DBG - Phoenix, Arizona

The Desert Botanical Gardens (DBG) is one of my all-time favorite places to go when the weather is cool. They have special events and festivals all year round, but this one is my favorite to take the grandkids to. There are lots of activities, crafts, entertainment and a hayride to the pumpkin patch. If you have the time, you can also walk around the gardens and take in the sights all with one admission price.

My Halloween Pumpkin

My Latest Pumpkin Creation

This is our Jack-O-Lantern from last Halloween. We had fun finding just the right one with the perfect stem. I am very particular that my pumpkin has a nice stem. I don't know why, but it is important to me. It gives my Jack-O-Lantern character.

This pumpkin we opened up from the bottom instead of the top and saved the seeds to run out of his mouth. It looks scary like this. Putting the Jack-O-Lantern over a LED candle is easy with the bottom open.

@tvyps: I know what you mean! I came down from Reno, NV 5 years ago and miss "real" fall changes. It is my favorite time of year. I will try to go to Prescott with the grandkids. Thanks for the blessing!

The one in Prescott is nice. I live in Phoenix and have a difficult time getting into the Season here...it just doesn't feel the same.. :( Blessed!
