Rankin and Bass Classic Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Misfit Toys Ornaments for decorating your Christmas Tree

Updated on October 22, 2013

If you haven't seen Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, you are missing out on one of the best Christmas specials ever made. Despite being more than 50 years old, Rudolph is played every year, along with How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Frosty the Snowman and A Charlie Brown Christmas. Each one is worth watching multiple times during the Christmas season. Please enjoy to short clip of the classic cartoon below, it is the song from Rudolph that introduces the Island of Misfit toys. Then vote who your favorite misfit toy is.

This set of ornaments is perfect for Rudolph the Red Nosed-Reindeer fans. It looks vintage, featuring many of the toys from the Island of Misfit Toys. Besides Rudolph, you have:

The Airplane that cannot fly (best put him at the bottom of the tree)

A doll that cries (Interesting fact, Arthur Rankin (of Rankin and Bass) said that her problems were psychological. She was abandoned and depressed.

A Charlie in the Box (not a Jack in the box)

A choo-choo with square wheels on your caboose (the tender actually, but that doesn't sound as good)

A spotted elephant.

These were the unloved and unwanted toys in the Rankin and Bass Christmas special. Some of the others are a cowboy that rides an ostrich, a boat that sinks, and a water pistol that shoots jelly.

My wife remembers watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and crying about the elephant, and how lonely he was. She so wanted that elephant as a stuffed animal (to add to her collection) This year, she will get him. The spotted elephant will be lonely no more.

Remembering classic Christmas shoes, and enjoying them year after year has become tradition in my home, and I hope in yours. The Christmas tree ornaments above will be perfect to add to your collection. A few classic Christmas Cartoons are also included below.
