Christmas Light Road

childhood memories

When I was a child, our neighbors decorated everything and I mean EVERYTHING, including their monkey, BoBo's pen with Christmas lights. They even asked me to use my own childish artistic talents to draw large outlines on plywood to be cut out and lit up. Every night from Thanksgiving 'til Christmas, cars would line up down the highway in our county in order to ride slowly down the dirt loop road to see the bright colored lights.

Now the road is paved and officially named Christmas Light Road.

I'm thankful that around 12 years old, Jesus became the Real Christmas Light of my life!

Christmas Lights - in NC

Fun places in NC to drive to with your friends and family. Be sure to talk about the REAL Christmas Light as you drive by these local places near or in Cary, NC, off Penny Rd; Lake Myra in Wendell, NC and Meadow Lights near Benson, NC

"Where are the beautiful areas to see Free Christmas Lights?"

The videos above are some of the local Wake County, NC places

Someone asked on the local yahoo group-"Where are the beautiful areas to see Free Christmas Lights?"

Here are some of the answers to help those of you in the Wake County area:

There's a house on Ten-Ten Road (near Fanny Brown or Old Stage

Road--about a mile or so east of 401) that has a wonderful lighting

display every year. I haven't been there yet this year, but I believe

that the homeowner/business IS outdoor lighting-related.

Also, I recall a house on Penny Road (maybe near Graham Newton Road?)

that had a beautiful display last year.

If someone else knows more about either of these, please share! I tried

to find more info on the one at Ten-Ten, but just didn't get very far.

Lynne

The Putt-Putt place/Par 3 on Hwy 401 S. (that has the Pelican Snowball

place) has a light display this year. They are charging a fee, though.

It is like $6 for older kids--less for younger, I think. And it

includes a round of putt putt on the fully decorated/lit course. It

may be $8 for adults..not sure. I don't remember. We haven't seen the

display, but we drove up and talked to them one night to find out the

cost.

Also, the house Lynne is referring to is a family who actually owns a

lighting store in Raleigh and they put up a beautiful wonderland of

displays at their home on the corner of a subdivision and 1010 road.

Not far from where Fanny Brown connects to 1010. It is on the segment

of 1010 road between Old Stage Rd. and Hwy 401. Hope that helps. I

have not been by there this year, yet. But I plan on checking it out,

as well.

I still want to get out to Lake Myra (Wendell), but haven't gotten

there, yet!

Blessings,

Alicia S.

Don't have the exact address but Abbey Drive in Raleigh (in-between Creedmoor Rd

and Ray Road) is a very short road (so you can't miss it) and has a house that

has an amazing array of light set to music done by the homeowner and his wife.

It is about a 25-30 minute show and they have a radio station you tune into so

you don't have to roll down the windows or get out unless you want to. There is

another house just a few doors down on an adjacent street with the same - worth

the time to go see it! He does an amazing job.
