Do you plan on watching romance movies for Valentine's Day this year?
Setting the Scene for Valentine's Romance
Valentine's Day is all about romance. Whatever else you're planning this year for February 14th, you should be setting the scene for a romantic date. The true key here is to be prepared in advance for the evening you're going to be spending with your partner. Choose (and purchase or rent!) your movies and make sure that they are available in the living room or bedroom where you'll be settling in to watch television. Try to have everything ready so that you or your partner don't need to leave the area in order to get something you wanted to have in the first place. The only reason you should need to get up is to use the bathroom!
It's recommended to keep a chilled bottle of wine (if that's your preference) or a thermos of hot cocoa near where you'll be sitting so that you don't need to keep getting up and down to fix things like drinks.
Don't forget to pop some popcorn! You'll find some excellent recipes online, but Cherry Vanilla popcorn is perfect for Valentine's Day! Whatever you do, be sure that you have it ready in advance and prepared on your table for eating when you're ready!

Did you enjoy The Notebook?
A Romantic Movie about Enduring and Unlikely Love
Everyone knows the story in one of its various forms. After all, Shakespeare told it with Romeo and Juliet and authors have been telling it ever since: A poor man falls in love with a rich young lady and her family rejects his advances, ending in tragedy. Why does the ending have to be so tragic? Nicholas Sparks tells this enduring story in a different way as an old man reads from his notebook the love story that he shared once with his now-aging wife.
Day after day, Noah reads this endearing love story, sharing his love all over again with the woman with whom he spent his life, against all odds.
Widely considered to be one of the most romantic love stories of all time, The Notebook is surely one of Sparks' best movies, and is not to be missed! This may be the perfect Valentine's Date movie!

Did you enjoy Titanic?
A Romantic Movie about Facing the Odds for Love
Another story of facing the odds, Titanic is the love story of two people from different social classes, both of them trying to get back to America from Ireland. Their fate, however, is very much pre-determined because they have boarded the ill-fated Titanic, a ship that is already destined to sink when it hits an iceberg.
On the ship, Rose must face an impending marriage to a man she doesn't love (and who is, in fact, quote cruel to her) and a mother whose only goal in life is to marry her daughter to money. Jack must deal with his status as a third class traveler. When the two of them meet, however, love blossoms and they find it nearly impossible to stay away from one another.
Easily one of the best romantic movies of all time. The version to the right is the 2012 version.

The Princess Bride
Did you enjoy The Princess Bride?
A Romantic Movie about Enduring Love
Most everyone has seen the 1987 classic The Princess Bride at some point in their life. This is the story of Buttercup and her beloved, Westley. Indeed, perhaps such well-known endearments as "Always" and "Okay" originated with "As you wish," the words which Westley repeats to Buttercup whenever she asks him to do something. Instead of telling one another that they love one another, the phrase is repeated as a way of expressing affection.
When Westley is sent off to war, Buttercup becomes engaged to the nasty Prince Humperdink, and Buttercup is despondent, certain that she'll never see her beloved again. Her fate appears to be sealed, however, and it isn't until she decides that it's best to end her own life that Buttercup comes to realize that sometimes love wins, after all.
The Princess Bride is a good movie choice for young people or for those couples who need to remember that there is always hope.
This movie receives 8.2/10 stars on IMDb.
Did you enjoy Jerry Maguire?
Jerry Maguire has always followed the rules instead of his heart. If you want to succeed as a sports agent, that's what you do. But when a moral epiphany turns his life around and drives him toward a new way of handling his business, his life threatens to implode. The memo he sends to everyone in his office results in laughter and ridicule, and Jerry is out a job. When only one person follows him out of the office that day, he knows that he's in trouble. Nobody believes in his new morality except for him and Dorothy Boyd.
Starting a business together isn't easy, and finding clients is the toughest part. Thankfully for Jerry and Dorothy (who has a six year old to support), they find Rod Tidwell, willing to keep Jerry on in spite of the mess he's made for himself. But Rod only wants one thing ("Show me the money!") and he and his wife Marcy put a lot of pressure on Jerry and Dorothy.
As so often happens, stress drives Jerry and Dorothy together, but the question becomes whether their relationship is one of convenience or one of love.
Jerry Maguire is a good movie for couples who are foundering and aren't sure they're together for the right reasons. It will reassure you that love exists.

Did you enjoy Warm Bodies?
A Romantic Movie about Coming Alive for Love
R is dead. Following the apocalypse, he lives in an airport with the other zombies, leaving the airport now and again to go into the city to hunt for food. This is life for the undead, though R frequently poses philosophical questions about whether or not he is, in fact, living when he's actually dead. He remembers nothing, not even his first name -- all he understands is that it had to have begun with an R at some point in time. He speaks very little, but wishes he could speak more.
Then he meets Julie while on a hunt. As it happens, he's eaten her boyfriend's brains, and now possesses the memories of the boy who had once been in love with Julie. R appreciates Perry's thoughts about Julie (at least to an extent) and he takes her home, wanting to keep her safe, as a sort of "pet."
But something strange is happening to R. He's still cold, but surely, he's starting to get warmer.
Warm Bodies is a good movie selection for couples who want a good laugh and some philosophy mixed with their humor and romance.
This movie is rated 7.0 on IMDb.
Sweet Home Alabama
Did you enjoy Sweet Home Alabama?
A Romantic Movie about Rekindling Love
People change, and when Melanie Smooter left Alabama to become Melanie Carmichael, she proved just how much people can change themselves when they change their location. There's only one small problem. Her gorgeous boyfriend has just proposed to her. It wouldn't be a problem, really, apart from the fact that she's still married to her ex husband down in Alabama.
Now Melanie must go home to obtain the divorce she was too lazy (or too in love!) to get years ago so that she can tie the knot with the man of her dreams. Back in Alabama, however, her beau's mother is after her to prove that she's not who she says she is, and Melanie is driven closer and closer to her true love.
Sweet Home Alabama is a great movie choice for couples who want a laugh and for those who need a reminder of why they married in the first place.
This movie receives a 6.1/10 rating on IMDb.
Did you enjoy She's All That?
A Romantic Movie about How Even the Loser can Find Love
An updated version of George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, She's All That is romantic, funny and touching.
Laney isn't a popular girl at her high school. An artistic loner, she prefers to be by herself or with her family, and avoids being around people whenever she can help it. So when jock Zack approaches her, she hardly begins to trust him at all.
And she's probably right, given that his friends have bet him that he can't turn her into the prom queen at their high school in time for the dance.
The last thing that either of them expects to find along the way of this rather offensive journey is love. Who can love someone who's with you on a dare in the first place? But as with the classic and its musical version My Fair Lady, things always work out in a happy ending.
She's All That is a great movie for anyone who has ever been an outcast and will resonate particularly well with teenagers.
