Spend some special time with the one you love.

Staying home to spend time with the one you love can be very romantic. Life is hectic and sometimes it is just nice to hide away from the world with the one that you love.

So take advantage of a special day together to escape from the hustle and bustle of life, and make a special point of spending quality time with the person who you love most in the world.

What better way to spend a day than to choose to spend it alone together. Plan out your romantic home date idea before the big day arrives. It may take a little pre-planning to pull it off but the pay off is worth it.

Book off work for the day of your home date and arrange for the kids to go to grandma and grandpa's house for a couple nights, to visit another relative, or send them to a friend's house for a sleep over.

Lock the door, shut off the phone, and prepare to fall in love with your partner all over again. It can be very romantic just being alone.

Start your home date off by preparing a romantic breakfast tray to serve up in bed to the one you love.

Breakfast in bed does not have to be a huge extravagant meal. It is romantic just to have someone serve you breakfast in bed.

A meal as simple as coffee, toast, and honey, is very romantic when you serve it up to your spouse in bed. Scrambled eggs are another quick and easy breakfast to prepare.

Sprinkle some tiny cinnamon hearts on your breakfast tray. Place a red rose or carnation on the tray and serve a romantic breakfast in bed to the one that you love.

Can't cook? In the right setting even a cup of coffee can be very romantic.

You can even plan to spend your entire day together in bed.

Take the day off work and just spend the day relaxing with the one that you love.

You can read the newspaper together, work on crossword puzzles together, wrestle, or watch television.

Add a little candlelight to the room, some soft romantic lighting, and you have yourself an atmosphere that would make even cupid delighted to enter. It's a purr-fectly wonderful way to say I love you.

The point of staying in on this day is that you are spending it relaxing with your partner. Just the two of you, hiding away from the rest of the world, together.

It is the small details which can turn everyday into extraordinary.

Style up the meal with a designer apron for the server.

Have the maid or butler take care of the work on your special day.

If you have a friend or relative who is willing to do you a very large favor then hire them to act as a butler or maid for you on your special day.

Their job will be to show up to serve you breakfast in bed, your evening dinner, or both. You decide the role they will play in your romantic home date scenario.

Provide your butler or maid with a key to your house. Set a time when they are to arrive, and prepare to dine about one hour after they arrive in your home. To Insure that this arrangement is done with the utmost of dignity your butler or maid should be decked out in fine black or white attire.

If you have planned for this person to serve breakfast then they will cook the meal, serve it to you on trays, do the dishes, and then quietly exit the house so you are able to carry on with your romantic day together.

The evening meal would be orchestrated in much the same way. Your maid or butler would arrive in the afternoon to prepare, and serve, the evening meal. The maid or butler would once again be dressed to the nines in a classy black outfit. You and your spouse would also be required to dress in your best for this date night.

The table would be set with your finest dishes, candlelight and wine. The butler or maid would then cook and serve your meal. After doing the dishes the hired help would quietly leave the house so your Valentine evening is shared by only the two of you.

Of course keep in mind that it is totally your option if you choose to just stay in your pajamas for the entire special day together. If so, just be sure that the maid or butler is dressed to the nines when he or she serves your stylish romantic meal.

Small details of care and consideration can be very touching.

Throw a blanket onto the floor and have a romantic picnic at home. There won't be any ants scooting over to interrupt your date.

You can prepare your picnic lunch the day before, (or order in pizza) pop the cork on a bottle of wine, and relax with your date.

Simple foods like cubed ham, cheese, buns, bread and butter pickles, grapes, and strawberries are excellent for a home date. These are foods that are easy to prepare and also foods that can be easily fed to each other.

A romantic wine and cheese picnic in front of the fireplace.

Open up that fine bottle of wine that you have been saving for a perfectly romantic occasion. Pull the cheese and cracker tray out of the fridge, lay a blanket on the floor, and toss a couple of cozy cushions down there too.

There is no occasion more romantic than when the two of you are alone together, so pop the top on that bottle, get down on the floor, and snuggle up in front of the fireplace with the one that you love.

A roaring crackling fire in the hearth spells out warmth, security, and safety. These are all messages that you want to portray to your spouse. So snuggle up, whisper sweet nothings to each other, and light a fire in the one that you love.

You could take her out dancing as well. Get dolled up, put on your favorite tunes, and dance the night away in your living room.

Turn your bathroom into a relaxing romantic spa experience.

Put on some romantic music. Light the scented candles, fill the tub with bubbles, and crawl in with the person you love.

Let the warm water and the perfumed scent of roses or jasmine fill the air around you. Wash her toes and let her wash yours.

A relaxing soak together can really serve to re-ignite the romantic flames of a relationship. Turn your bathroom into a relaxing romantic spa experience for the two of you on the day of your home date together.

Dim the lights and cast a romantic flicker of light over your evening deco. Snuggle up and get close. Soft lighting in modern LED lights. With all the beauty of candle light without the worry of having an open flame. Enchanting.

Propose to her again. Renew your vows.

Let your spouse know that you love her even more today than you did on the day when you first met. Propose to her once more.

For the ultimate home date at home nothing can be more romantic than offering up your heart to the one that you love.

Promise to love her forever by renewing your marriage vows.

I absolutely am down with the butler idea Ladymermaid. One of the most romantic things someone ever did for me was to compile a dvd movie of all our good times together and make a video from it. It was quite sappy and sentimental... sometimes like me!

It is important even in the hard times to remember the great times, and still be able to laugh, and feel like a silly teenager again

This is a delightful idea (and beats the crowds in the restaurants on Valentine's Day). You ought to suggest some romantic movies to watch. True Lies is one that both guys and chicks enjoy (action romance, I guess).

I like a nice home cooked meal, long walk and a romantic bath followed by a heart-warming film. It's important to put time aside for each other, it's so easy to forget about ourselves in the stresses of daily life.

Well, I once prepared a romantic coupon book of romantic events and gave it to my husband [now the ex]. He could redeem them at different times for that special reward. I love the idea of finding a romantic interlude at home.

Just being alone, without the kids, make for a very romantic setting. It is so easy to get lost behind your kids.

I love when my husband entertains the kids for a few minutes or does a load of laundry. I know it sounds boring but we have a very hectic life with three small children. I love that he sees I need a break sometimes. Happy Valentine's Day!!

Lorelei, I love your romantic Valentine's Day home date ideas. I think one of the most romantic (and thoughtful) things you can do for your spouse or partner is to get into bed first and make him/her a "warm spot" on his/her side of the bed, especially during the winter. And when I serve my husband dessert or hot cocoa I often garnish them with whipped cream topped with little heart-shaped candy "sprinkles" or silver dragees or chocolate shavings/curls - a little touch that says without words "I wanted to make this extra special for you."
