Smokeless I love a fireplace for the smell also, however, the smoke isn't necessary for the ambiance and you can talk yourself into believing that it is real.
FirewoodFirewood in the house usually is difficult and if you store it outside, you need to retrieve it. With an electric fireplace, you can just plug it in!
Decor You can pick something you like that goes with your decor while with a fireplace, unless you remodel it, it is difficult to change the look.
Expense Although you are using electric and your bill may be slightly higher, you don't have to buy wood, drive to get it or hire anyone to clean up the chimney.
