You know what happens if you forget to wear green.

Eyeshadow Tricks

Did you know there are a few secrets to properly apply eye makeup.

These Tips may be some you already know and possibly a few more for you to learn. But I want you to know that once you know them, it will take all the guesswork out of how to effectively apply your eyeshadow to get the best results.

  • Paula Dorf Eye Blender
  • Brush Tip #1

Let's start with blending.

Blending is actually making the three colors flow easily into one another so you can't see where one color begins and the other ends.

Three colors are extremely important. I know it is more work but the results are more dramatic and effective. Always start with your lightest color and then go darker. What I mean is that the base color should be your lightest color. This base color will cover the entire eye area, from lid to brow. The next color or medium shade is applied to the lid of your eye. The final and darkest color is applied to the crease of your eye. Now be careful, you don't' want it to go on too dark. So apply with a light touch, you can always add more but you can't take away without starting all over. One of my favorite expressions is "less is more" and I believe that applies here, unless of course you are creating a more theatrical look. Invest in a few quality Eye Brushes. Brushes are a girls best friend.

  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer
  • Tip #2
  • Always use a primer

This helps set the colors so they stay on your eyes for hours. Also the colors are more vibrant. The best one on the market, in my opinion is Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

  • Mac Eyeshadow Lucky Green
  • Tip # 3
  • Buy a good quality eyeshadow

Just by buying a high quality eyeshadow will get you much better results than using the cheaper shadows. A great eyeshadow will stay on your eyes all day long, while a cheap one will have faded within a few hours. Also the colors are so much more intense. Look for brands like Mac, Nars, Urban Decay, Stila, or Dior.

Tip # 4

This is the best secret of all to brighten up those eyes.

I learned this trick from my friend who is a makeup artist. Line the inner part of the eye and the lower lash line with a white eye shadow or eye pencil. You can also add a line to where the tear duct is, make sure you blend it in. For even more brightening, sometimes we all need to go the extra mile, try this; Highlight just under the brow line and blend. It's amazing how a touch of white will really brightens up your eyes.

Your shadow color will pop with excitement and stay on all day.

Did you know that leprechauns and fairy creatures can't see you if you wear GREEN.

Choosing Eye Shadow Hues

Want to give your eyes a striking and vivid appearance?

If your a browned eyed girl, then you are in luck because just about any color will look fantastic. Greens, champagnes, bronzes, golds, browns, grays, plums, blues and burnt orange are just some of the shades that work beautifully with brown eyes. Green is a great eyeshadow for brown eyes. A smoky green like olive, khaki or even forest green can give a nice sexy look to your eyes. Brighter greens can be used for a more "fun" look as well.

For those baby blues try using a shadow that is darker and watch those eyes pop. Some great colors for blues are taupe, gray, violet, purple, deep blue, silver. For greens go with a lighter shade to make those baby blues really stand out.

Hazel eyes go with anything. If you are fortunate enough to have this color eyes, then you can choose from the widest spectrum of shades.

Try to match up some of the flecks in the eye to really accentuate them.

And last but not least, for those Irish green eyes you can use greens to accentuate or try a purple to make them really stand out. All women with green eyes look great in brown colors from light beiges to deep chocolate browns. Purples and pinks also complement with green eyes. Light greens can be very flattering to green eyes when applied with a light touch.

Urban Decay Primer Potion

This is a must have! I highly recommend this product, it is the best product on the market. If you want your eye shadows to be vivid and long lasting then Urban Decay Primer Potion is your tool!

I bought shamrock shaped stickers at the craft store. I placed a couple in the corners of my eyes and then halfway down my cheek, trace with really sharp eyeliner and filled w green eye glitter. It was a huge hit and looked cute too.
