Four Fun Books for Star Wars Fans!

Updated on December 3, 2013

A Family Tradition

My six sons grew up in the 1970s and 1980s. Each Christmas it was a certain bet that something under the tree would contain something related to Star Wars. The boys collected action figures, vehicles, toys, posters, VHS tapes, and books. Such a variety of toys, books, and memorabilia sure kept our options open when choosing gifts.

Star Wars: The Ultimate Action Figure Collection

My six sons grew up during the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990's. Each holiday season there was sure to be something Star Wars under our tree!

The boys played with and collected Star Wars action figures, vehicles and toys, posters, books, and VHS tapes through the years. I am sure that my husband spent the better part of 1980s Christmas mornings assembling Star Wars toys and vehicles. It is only fitting to include two new Star Wars books on this years gift list.

Star Wars: The Ultimate Action Figure Collection is a 352-page guide, covering more than 2500 Star Wars action figures. Through 35 years of collectible toys are illustrated with photos of each figure in action. The margins of the page feature relevant photos from the feature films. The A-Z guide follows individual toys from when they first appeared and through subsequent action figure updates through the years. The characters are organized alphabetically starting by the first number or letter of their name, rank, or title, and then again by the order of release. As a bonus the book features and details rare, popular, forgotten, and beloved figures from the Star Wars films, cartoons, and video games.

Amazon Spotlight Personal Review

My eldest son is such an avid Star Wars fan that he named his first born son after Darth Vader!

Now that my son is a father of two boys I know that Darth Vader and Son will provide a few giggles and laughs.

Darth Vader and Son
Darth Vader and Son

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....

Episode Three and a half:

Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith, leads the Galactic Empire against the heroic Rebel Alliance. Before he can take care of the Rebels, Lord Vader must first take care of his son - four-year-old Luke Skywalker...

Written and illustrated in a "comic book" style, Darth Vader and Son answers the question "What would have happened if Darth Vader had taken an active role in raising his son?

It turns out the Dark Lord could have been like any other dad dealing with the trials and joys that come with parenting.

Parenting in a far away galaxy seems to be similar to that on Earth, with a twist, for example:

- Using the force to raid the cookie jar.

- Making time for lightsaber batting practice.

- Answering difficult questions like "Where do babies come from?" and "Why is it called a Death Star?"

Dad's and grand-dads will enjoy finding this little book under the tree!

Vader's Little Princess

The sequel to Darth Vader and Son presents more parent challenges as the Sith Lord faces the trials of bringing up a daughter, from daddy's little girl to a rebellious teen.

It is easy to see that this princess has her daddy wrapped around her little finger. How will Darth Vader cope with the parenting trials of such things as bedtime battles, date night curfews and what he considers to be all too revealing fashion styles.

Another fun book from author Jeffrey Brown.

Star Wars Lightsaber Thumb Wrestling

Get ready for an entirely new method of light saber play!

Each year I try to find something unique as a gift for my Star Wars enthusiast sone. This compact book challenges the power of the thumb as opponents face off in the timeless battle of good versus evil.

The spiral-bound board book features fourteen pages, all illustrated with photographs from the epic feature film. The game is accessed through two die-cut wholes and with one red and one blue miniature lightsabres. To duel players strap their sabres onto their thumbs, slip them through the page holes, and interlock hands. Each of the seven battles can be played independently or together in a tournament. Which thumb will declare galaxy victory?

In addition to being a nice addition to his collection, I bet my son will have the entire family enjoying battling for the honor of Jedi Master.
