Stocking Stuffers for Dogs and Puppies
Doggies Need Stockings and Stocking Stuffers Too!
At my house, it wouldn't be Christmas without getting some stocking stuffers for the dogs! We have 3 dogs at various ages with three different personalities. They are, of course, a part of the family and get stockings just like the rest of us.
Doesn't everyone get stockings for their household pets? Horrors if you don't!
Below, I have complied a list of stocking stuffer ideas for dogs based on the age and likes of each of my pets. Hopefully it will help you when preparing stockings for your pets this Christmas.
The Original Red-Headed Lucy-Dog! - Stocking Stuffers for Dogs
Lucy is a red, short haired miniature Dachshund. She weighs in at about 12 lbs. She used to be a beautiful, rich red color but at 15 years of age, she has quite a bit of white hair now too.
Lucy is the matriarch of the family -- she is the one in charge and the other two know it. She is mostly blind and almost deaf now, but still can snap the other two to attention with one bark. She sleeps most of the time now and will amble up when she needs to go outside or is hungry or thirsty.
She'll take a jaunt around the house using her hound nose (which still works beautifully) to keep her on course, since she can't see. Lucy is a lady, loyal and very loving. You can read more about her here: I Love Lucy Dog.

Lucy Loves Her Blanket - Stocking Stuffers for Dogs
She sleeps in her bed but, just like humans, she wants a blanket too! Her current blanket has snowmen on it.
I think it's time for a new one this Christmas!
Lucy Loves to get Spa Treatment - Stocking Stuffers for Dogs
Lucy is a mature old girl. She knows what she likes and when she likes it. If you follow her routine, things are fine. She loves bath day. She sits in the utility sink like a proper lady as you soap her up and down. Her favorite part is when we use the rubber brush while suds-ing. She cocks her head and actually sighs with satisfaction. It's a doggy spa essential!
Wiener Dog's Gotta Protect their Joints - Lucy's Favorite Treat
All natural and healthy for her, these treats by Loving Pets feature chicken and sweet potatoes. An added benefit is the Glucosamine & Chondroitin to help Lucy with her joints.
She gets one about mid-day. She'll stand in the middle of the dining room until we notice and give it to her. She may be blind and deaf but she's no dummy!
She climbs in her bed and then wiggles around until her blanket is completely covering her body and face. She loves her blankie winter, spring, summer and fall!
Lucy the 2nd -- Yup, two Lucy's in the House
Lucy II was a sort of rescue. Her owners loved her very much but lost their home. The new apartment they were moving to did not allow pets. They didn't want to take her to the shelter so we took her in at 9 months old. She already knew her name so we didn't want to add to her trauma by trying to change her name. We just ended up with two Lucy's.
Lucy II is a pure bred Shih Tzu. She is mostly black with a bit of white near her paws and on her chest. She is a lover, for sure. She is the epitome of a lap dog. She wants to be on someone's lap at all times. She good natured and plays with the other two like toddlers at a play-date.
Her face is so cute and she has big, expressive eyes. She weighs in at 11.5 lbs but resembles a drowned rat when wet from her bath. She is adventurous and loves to run around the yard sniffing everything.

A Toy Ball for Lucy's Stocking - Stocking Stuffers for Dogs
Give her a ball, any ball and she'll bat it, chase it and play with it for hours! Lucy II just has a thing for balls so, of course, that's a mainstay in her Christmas stocking!
Things that Squeak for Lucy II's Stocking - The Pheasant is her Favorite
Don't mess with her squeaking toys! She'll cry until you give it back (and maybe even growl too!)
She loves any kind of a toy that squeaks and even sleep with a plush one.
Just don't ask her to share -- no can do!
Scooby Snacks for Lucy - Her Favorite Dog Treat
Lucy 2 loves her treats! She'll dance a jig or twirl in circles just to get your attention and a treat! She really loves Scooby Snacks. I bought these because they reminded me of Saturday mornings growing up but Lucy II fell in love with them!

Jordan -- He wants something for Christmas Too! - Stocking Stuffers for Puppies
Jordan is the Baby. He's officially a Borkie (Beagle + Yorkie). We rescued him when he was 5 weeks old and abandon with his litter mates. He was about 7" long at the time and weighed almost nothing.
He loved his new family right away! Today, Jordan is 18 months old and the only male of our dogs. He's a lover, always wanting to be right up next to someone when sitting or sleeping. He has his quirks (like chewing) but has an awesome, lovable personality. I can't imagine being without him!
He weigh's in at an impressive 19.2 lbs -- a big change from 3 lbs when we got him. He likes to dig and is definitely part of the Beagle family with that nose of his. He likes to sit on the back of the sofa and look out the picture window at the back yard. If a squirrel or chipmunk happen to be playing he goes nuts! Hubby loves to scream "squirrel" and watch Jordan get excited.

Jordan Wants Everyday Dog Treats - He's a Bit Picky with His Treats
Jordan's a no fuss kinda guy. He really only likes Alpo's Variety Snaps for a treat. He sniffs others and might bury them but he just won't eat them.
We buy these in 3 packs so we never run out!
Jordan is a Chewer - He loves his Bone (instead of my furniture) - Stocking Stuffers for Puppies and Dogs
For the most part, we broke Jordan of chewing everything in site by giving him a toy bone instead. He finally caught on (though he has a memory lapse now and again). He likes to chew right before bed. It's like a babies' pacifier for him. He'll literally whine if he can't find it.
He goes to town for about 10 minutes, chewing his bone and then lays down with a heavy sigh to sleep. It's a nightly ritual.
Jordan Loves his Grooming Comb - Stocking Stuffers for Puppies and Dogs
Show Jordan the comb and he immediately drops to the floor and rolls onto his back. He LOVES to be combed. He's a medium haired dog so there is not a lot of shedding but this comb gets rid of what's not attached anymore. He goes to sleep while you are combing him and wakes up if you stop. What a nut!
