How to Catch a Leprechaun

Leprechauns are known for their treasures. A fun craft activity for St. Patrick's Day's to build a Leprechaun trap. Click on the link below for instructions on how to build one.

Remember, they are very difficult to catch, so don't be despaired if you don't catch one. However, if you do, what treasures may await you!

St. Patrick's Day Scavenger Hunt

Make a treasure hunt for kids. We all know how much Leprechauns like their gold. Let kids have the fun of finding some of their own gold. All you need are some plastic gold coins.

Take the coins and hide them, just as you would do for an Easter egg hunt. Be sure to let kids know the boundaries in which they are hidden. Give each child a bag or pillow case and let the hunt begin! The winner is the person who finds the most coins. If desired, have a prize for the winner.

Shamrock Craft

Using the shamrock you see here, print it out and cut it to be in the proper shamrock shape. Cut out a small photo of each child and have them glue it in the middle of the shamrock.

Now, let kids decorate the rest of the shamrock with crayons, cut out colored pieces of construction paper, glitter, etc. When everything is dry, use magnets and let them place them on refrigerators.

Bring on some Irish luck by making a Blarney Stone. This is an easy craft to make.

Start by finding a smooth, clean rock. With some green paint or green markers, color the rock. Once dried, let kids decorate it with markers, glitter, sequins. Kids can now kiss the Blarney Stone for good luck!

When the kids were little, the leprechauns always came to the house while they were sleeping and turned everything downstairs topsy-turvy. To pay for the mess, they would leave clues to a pot of gold (candy). The kids loved following the clues, as well as seeing the mess the leprechauns had made.
