Stroller Costumes for Halloween
Dress up your baby's stroller this Halloween!
I stumbled across pictures of stroller costumes when I was browsing the web one day looking for ideas for baby costumes. I had never seen a stroller costume and I thought they were so smart! In the past, when I've taken my little ones trick-or-treating, their costume has gotten lost and you couldn't even tell they were dressed up. Not this year! I've been inspired to make my own unique outfits this year for my 2 littlest ones and I can't wait to see the reactions they get!
This page is a compilation of stroller costumes I have found on the internet. Try some of these projects or use them as inspiration for your own creative genius. The possibilities are endless!
Have fun and be creative!
Don't let that bulky stroller get in the way of your child's Halloween costume...instead, incorporate it! Make it an essential part of the costume! This fun idea is making waves with parents everywhere. Check out the ideas on this page for inspiration for your next trick-or-treating expedition. Not only are there some brilliant designs, but they are so much fun for your little one. Your baby will be the talk of the neighborhood!

Sew your own unique creations!
Can you sew? Check out these patterns from Butterick. These are designed to cover the entire stroller so only the child's upper torso sticks out. This means you can keep them warm and snuggly under the fabric while their cute outfit shows through. Very cute ideas!
Wow! Have you ever seen anything this cool? You can't even tell there's a stroller under there! Unfortunately, there were not step-by-step instructions for this one, but maybe it can spark some ideas for you! Learn more about this R2D2 project here.
All homemade stroller covers will require unique supplies, but there are some basic items that seem to be needed for a good portion of them. If you already have a good assortment of these items, you should be off to a good start.
- Cardboard box or laundry basket for the base.
- Posterboard to glue on top of the plain cardboard and for decorative edges.
- Hot glue gun and extra gluesticks
- Paint and paintbrushes or markers
- Embellishments (sequins, feathers, etc.)
- Unlimited imagination!
What is a baby ghost's favorite game?
Baby Owl in a Nest
Start with this baby owl costume. Use a woven laundry basket for the "nest" and decorate with fall leaves, twigs and pinecones....looks pretty simple!
I love the fall theme with the owl and the leaves intertwined with the basket, but you could do any kind of bird in this one. If you have a spring parade to march in, you could make this a robin or a bluebird with flowers in the nest. If it's wintertime, you could replace the leaves with white sparkly felt to look like snow. Lots of possibilities here!
Pirate Ship Costume - With Cannons that "Shoot"
Dads are really good at getting creative! Check out this Pirate Ship that has little cannons that actually look and sound like they are firing...puffs of smoke and all! I'm not talented enough to create something this cool, but maybe you are? I would bet the folks in his neighborhood took notice of this great costume idea!
