Sweet things & Sweet Valentine's day gifts.

Updated on February 9, 2010

My inspiration to write this comes from a family which treats me like I'm one of them.  Even though I am just an employee who works for their business, they always take care of me like I'm their relative. It impressed me so much and I did not have a chance to tell them how I felt about this until 2 days ago.
I have been working as a server and dishwasher for this family's business for almost 2 years. However, I’m going back to Thailand at the end of February.   One day, the owner’s daughter told me that "we will set a party for you before you go back". For me, I was very happy to hear but I did not think that they would make me so impressed that day.
I went to French restaurant with their entire family. I gave them some gifts because it was a good opportunity to say "Thank you" for what they have done to me.
We had a very good dinner and a very nice discussion. After that, they gave me some gifts and we decided to open our gifts. They bought me all my favourite things that I never ever expected. The thing that appreciated me most was they tried to find out what I really love. "How wonderful they are".
I did not see the card that they wrote to me until I came home. After I read the card, my eyes were full of tears because I realize that how much they love me.
The word of "Canadian family" made me so happy because I knew that I was not alone in this big city anymore.

Valentine's day is the day to show your feeling to everybody who you love. Anyway, everyday is the right day to say the words "I love you". Gifts are special but the most valuable gift is from your heart. I believe that someone you love will be very impressed no matter what the gifts are, as long as they are from your heart. Nevertheless, you would like to do your best to bring happiness on Valentine's day. These are some Valentine's day gift ideas that I would like to share with you. I hope the result will be big smile and that you will get a big kiss from the one you love.

These are the most poppular flowers of all time. Pick the right one for the right meaning to show how you feel to your special person.

  • Red roses convey a simple message: "I love you". This makes them the ultimate symbol of romantic love and the most popular choice on Valentine’s Day. Other meanings for red roses include desire, passion, courage, respect, beauty and sincerity. A red rosebud symbolizes purity and loveliness.

White Roses

Second only to red roses in popularity, white roses symbolize truth and innocence. They also represent silence, secrecy, reverence, humility, youthfulness and charm. You can use them to say, "You're heavenly", "I miss you" and "I’m worthy of you". A white rosebud symbolizes girlhood.

Pink Roses

In general, pink roses symbolize grace, gentility and happiness and express appreciation and gratitude.

Orange Roses

Orange roses communicate desire, enthusiasm and fascination. They make an excellent choice for a new relationship that you wish to pursue further.

Yellow Roses

Yellow roses symbolize friendship and freedom, so are not specifically romantic roses. They convey congratulations, joy, gladness and delight. But they also promise a new beginning, say "Welcome back" and "Remember me", and can convey jealousy and caring. Yellow roses with red tips convey friendship and falling in love.

Chocolates are a great noncommittal gift. Get your special person a box that emits class, not something from the drugstore, and get he or she a variety box if you don't know whether he or she like.

Heart-shaped pendant

Pendants were practically designed for giving to girlfriend. They’re sweet (but not too serious), pretty (but not distractingly eye-catching) and tailor-made to make her swoon on a daily basis.

Gold bracelet

This piece of jewelry reminds your girlfriend just how much your time with her has meant to you, while also providing her with something she’ll be more than happy to sport every day.

Gemstone earrings

Although gift demands change over the course of your relationship, one thing doesn’t: Jewelry will always melt her heart. Remind her, that after all this time, you love her as much as ever. Surprise her and make her feel extra special with this gift.

Spa getaway

Show her that you’re looking out for her by giving her a treatment package from a local spa, or get one for the two of you to experience together. Either way, you’ll make her feel fresh and sexy -- this gift is straight from the heart.

Couple cooking classes

Finding cooking classes in your area will indicate your interest in activities together; you’ll build cooperation skills and learn a new art.

Dog treats

When you've first met a girl, you're unlikely to know her likes, dislikes and diet restrictions. You always, however, know what kind of treats her dog (or any other pet she may have) will appreciate. Buying a gift that's healthy for her pet shows you're sensitive to her beloved buddy's well-being.
