Ten Round Things For Halloween

Nightcat loves everything about Halloween! She’s pretty sure it is a national holiday and if it isn’t it should be.

Ten Round Things For Halloween

This week's challenge was for a lens on something round and as we are so close to October I thought I'd sneak in one more Halloween lens before the month starts. There are after all, so very many round things for Halloween. Well, roundish. Let me preface this article by saying I'm currently in a boatload of pain and fighting off an infection, so the photographic tour of Halloween things more or less round will have to do.

So brew up a cup of you favorite beverage (also round when viewed from above, I'm on a roll), put on some atmospheric music, and get ready for ten round things for Halloween. Keeping in mind of course that these ten are just the tip of the iceberg. There are round foods alone that would made up a lovely lens, and someday perhaps I shall, but for now then ten will have to do, with apologies since I know that between the pain and medications I'm not doing my level best.

For those of you wondering what all the fuss is about I have two options, root canal or pulling. Ow. Oh, 'ow' is also round. Told you the medication is making me funny.

1) This light is round, sort of.

OK, maybe it looks more like a mini Superdome, but the light on top of this solar powered goody is round when viewed from above. And it has a roundish shape and semi-circle of skull at the skeleton's feet. Did I mention that I should be on my sickbed trying to fight off the infection? Because I really should be.

Six delightfully spooky-yet- sweet lights to light the way for Trick or Treaters. I love them because I become an instant kid at Halloween and I would have added one of these to a costume somehow, trust me.

Skeleton Song - Lots of round things on a skeleton, I think...

2) This witchy eye is round

The pupil is so round it is scary. But this darling old lady comes out every year as the October moon is getting full and, of course round. She keeps those round eyes on Trick or Treaters and folks seem to like her well enough. Befana in latex, I suppose.

A Witches Song - We do work in circles, you know

3) This couple is round

They are round in body and head and although the wife seems to be blushing they hold court on my porch yearly. She also sports round pumpkin earrings which, alas, were attended to after the photo, and of course they have round pumpkins attending court. The cute little froggy also has round eyes, and I'm sure if the medication and infection hadn't broadsided me I'd have a clever joke for you to bat around as well.

This fellah is a scarescrow too - Just the scary kind

4) This tombstone is rounded

Plus the fellah in the top hat and tails is just so dang cute as to be adorable. True, it is a little the worse for wear and those stains aren't coming out anytime soon, but my policy is to never clean anything I put out for Halloween. I mean this IS Halloween, things are supposed to look dusty, dirty, and decayed.

On a happier note he will be retiring this year to hang around in the house wherever he can fit in.

Did you know millions of unloved skeletons need adopted? They need a home to haunt and that home could be yours. Adopt a skeleton. Save an unlife.

5) This Spinner is Round

This is one of those cute whirlygigs that spins round in the wind. Alas the stake met with a lawnmower and.... Did you ever notice you can never find the right diameter stake in your garden stakes either when you need to replace one? Those are also round by the way.

Baby bats - Look at those adorable round eyes

6) This pumpkin is roundish

This jolly fellow is certainly round around by a bird's eye view just isn't as interesting as his silly grin. Yes that is indeed smoke in the background. I spared no expense.

Singing pumpkins - A classic and fun computer animation

7) These fellahs are round

Or round enough. This flag used to be much darker but hanging around under the October sun (round, ha!) will fade anyone, given time. The full moon behind them of course is perfectly round.

These boys get around - Now is that Jake or Elwood?

8) This word is round. Boo!

Boo is a very round word and here it even is round, in the hands of a ghost, of course. A ghost with a Jack 'O Lantern for a head as matter of fact.

Casper makes some friends - I have a soft spot for ghosts

9) A cauldron is round

Once upon a time a cauldron was in every home and used for everything. Heating water, making medicines, washing clothes, making food, so forth and so on. Although some folks still keep cauldrons for cooking, we see the cousin, the copper kettle, used more often. For Halloween of course nothing beats a classic.

Cauldron Cake Pops - Round and tasty

10) Things hang around

OK this is really pushing it, but I said ten and this photo was too good to pass up. Though that may be the medication talking. Here some painted pumpkins hang around, all willing and waiting to greet the Halloween season. Now I think I'll take a nice round pain pill and think on Halloween.
