What's your favorite music for that special day? Religious or other?

We all have our own special, wonderful, traditional melodies for Thanksgiving entertaining and festivities. When I was a kid, Thanksgiving music meant going to the Thanksgiving Service at our small church, where were would be sure to sing Bringing in the Sheaves and other hymns. It was a farming community, so the altar was decorated with sheaves of wheat, pumpkins, fall flowers and other signs of harvest and abundance.

No doubt, everyone who visits this page has their own idea of their ideal music for this day. I trust you will find something here that suits you and helps you with your holiday entertaining.

I guess I kind of like a mix and can enjoy something a little funny but prefer more restful and inspirational music, religious or not. Your slide show is as beautiful as the music by George Winston with a nice mix of everything wonderful!

I love Gobble Gobble, it's so hilarious. I also love Nicole Nordeman.....she has a song called Gratitude. It definitely is about doesn't mention the holiday, but it's all about being thankful to God for everything. Great song. Thanks for this lens!

@BuildABetterMouse: Good question. I don't know the answer. Perhaps some of our readers can clarify this.

Is "Harvest home" the same as "Come, Ye Thankful People, Come"? That's the Thanksgiving hymn I remember from my childhood.

@joanhall: Religious music at Thanksgiving is lovely. I still remember singing Harvest Home in our Thanksgiving church services when I was a kid. Thanks for commenting.

I'm definitely partial to religious Thanksgiving music. We have a Thanksgiving concert every year at our church, and I love preparing for it.
