The best of British chocolate - ideal gifts

You know what we British folk are like. No matter where we are in the world we will happily proclaim that England has the very best of everything - the best television programmes, the best beer and so on - and it seems that the further we get away from our homeland, the more vehement we become. Yep.

And of course, it's all arguable (and oh boy, the arguments I've had). But when it comes to chocolate, I won't be swayed - British chocolate is vastly superior. Fact. Try as they might, the Swiss and the Belgians just can't match it.

British chocolate in the USA

Most of us who live in other countries are perfectly accustomed to, when visiting the UK, stuffing our hand luggage with vast quantities of tasty treats. This can be cumbersome and costly. It can also have less than perfect results if your taxi from Miami Airport doesn't have great air conditioning.

But the internet has come to our rescue. Wonderful Brit treats are available online for quick and easy delivery.

What a great gift

For an Anglophile, or a British expat living in the USA, there couldn't be more a thoughtful gift than yummy UK choccies. True.

Why Thornton's?

It is generally accepted that Thornton's are the best treats you can buy without breaking the bank. And what could be better than buying from a company that has its roots over a hundred years ago in the fine county of Yorkshire?

Old fashioned values - modern approach

It might also interest you to know that the company takes the environment and sustainability very seriously indeed.

That's not just when it comes to ensuring that their fine ingredients come from impeccable ethical sources. It includes their day-to-day activities such as using vehicles that do the least damage to the environment and making a concerted effort to cut down on packaging, especially reducing and eliminating materials that aren't planet-friendly.

Other recommendations

These too are wonderful products that I can vouch for most heartily.

Chocomania- The Big Hamper of the Best British Chocolate - 100 bars of chocolate !
Chocomania- The Big Hamper of the Best British Chocolate - 100 bars of chocolate !

It really doesn't get much better than this. This wonderful gift pack includes a hundred, yes - one hundred - bars of beautiful British chocolates. This, admittedly, would only last for a week or so in our household (and there are only two of us!) but for everyone who loves British goodies, this is a superb gift.I promise.

Cadbury Flake Bar 20g- Case of 24
Cadbury Flake Bar 20g- Case of 24

Flakes are incredibly popular and this pack contains twenty four!. There is an art to eating a Flake. As the name suggests it's a large finger of flakey chocolate and the knack is to make sure that you don't waste a single speck. They are best eaten in private if you can as a rather undignified sucking and tongue workout inevitably occurs. Or do what the Brits do and stick one into an ice cream cone - the ice cream catches every last flake. Totally delicious.

A totally delicious chocolate treat.

Cadbury Easter Creme Eggs, 4-Count Boxes (Pack of 6)
Cadbury Easter Creme Eggs, 4-Count Boxes (Pack of 6)

Everyone loves creme eggs and they're not just for Easter! Again, there's a special knack of making the most of them. We Brits have it in our DNA.

Visit the factory

What a job... can you imagine being surrounded by chocolate all day? Do you think it's true that working with chocolate means that you can ignore it and not nibble? I've heard this from so many people who work in chocolate factories or stores and I still find it hard to believe, I have to admit.

Could you resist? Let me know in the comments section below. I look forward to hearing from you.
