My Own Recommendations for Playhouses for Little Tikes:

Need some advice for finding the best (and most affordable )playhouses for your kids? Then you have found the right page for you.

A few months before the winter holidays began, I was in Costco with three of my grand-babies. As most Costco members know, it is the BEST place to buy gifts of any kind for one's grands.

As I was browsing the aisles, my grands saw the perfect gift for them: a display model of a Little Tikes Playhouse! The kids (ages 1,3,and 4 at the time) loved it. I could not get them out--even for samples of brownies!

The price was fantastic! Well, Grandpa and I went back four days later to purchase one, and all of the playhouses were GONE! In fact, the last playhouse was being rolled out the door as we were asking about it. That proved to us that the Little Tikes house was (or would have been) a good choice for a special gift.

Like my other page about ride on construction toys, I have read a lot of reviews and pages on the 'net and found what I think are the best, affordable playhouses out there.

My Top Choices for a play house for children: - Step2 Neat and Tidy Cottage and Little Tikes Endless Adventures

My Criteria:

Must be big enough inside for a 4 year; it must designed to stimulate a child's imagination; the toy should be durable enough to survive for more than a few years!

You can see my 3 year-old grand-daughter in the introduction photo ringing the doorbell of her Step2 Outdoor Playhouse. She is tall for her age, but she still loves to play inside the house. I have observed that children love getting into a small space of their own where adults cannot fit.

A toy playhouse must have a reasonable price (generally less than $400.00), too.

A really good playhouse must have top ratings in reviews. In fact, both of these playhouses were selected as "best buys" in the past by Best Toys Guide

Step2 is one of the largest toy manufacturing companies in the USA and clearly labels all of their products as to country of origin. Most of their toys are assembled in the USA, but if any part comes from another country, they will tell you. All of their toys meet or exceed any regulations that are placed on toys that they sell.

Disclosure: I receive a small commission on products you might purchase.

Which outdoor playhouse would you purchase?

Little Tikes Play for a Boy - Girls are not the only kids who love a pretend play"house".

Little Tikes is an American company that manufactures the one of the best selling cars in the USA! Yes, the classic Cozy Coupe is made by this reputable company. That is why I am so excited about the pretend filling station that I saw on Amazon. It would be a perfect companion for the Cozy Coupe that I know is in your home.

I have a coupe that is more than 15 years old and my grandchildren still love riding it around the garage while Grandpa is in his workshop. If you would like to read more about my cozy coupe, click Cozy Coupe--An American Classic. Yes, it is an article I wrote and features even more images of my grandchildren at play on Little Tikes products.

@kristalulabelle: I remember making "tents" with sheets. That was my idea of fun. I also remember drawing a in the dirt and using squares as my house. That was fun, too.

I really enjoyed looking over your lens! I don't have children of my own yet, but I always like checking out kid's toys and comparing them to my memories of when I had Little Tykes toys. Needless to say, they are much cooler now, lol.

I would have loved one of these houses as a child. LOL! I don't know if I would get my future children one because of price alone, but they are a great way to let children use their imagination.

little ones always love having their own space to play house in. Always remembering wanting one of my own as well. Fortunately we had a travel trailer and on occasion mom would let me use that as my playhouse.

Cool lens. We have a slide and a little Thomas tent and tunnel, but not a playhouse. They look fun!

I have to agree! The Little Tykes playhouses are such fun, they should make bigger ones for the big kids!

[in reply to Evelyn_Saenz] They are small, but my three pictured here, found this particular Little Tykes playhouse cozy and comfortable for pretend play.

I have always loved the idea of playhouses but I find the Little Tykes playhouses to be too small. Even teens love to play in playhouses. I hope some day that Little Tykes will make one that expands for bigger children.

Love this lens and all the cute children.
