The Spirit of Halloween

Updated on September 1, 2011

Get into the Spirit of Halloween and Celebrate the Spooky Season!

I'm a big fan of Halloween, and I usually start getting excited for all things spooky around, oh, July. If you're like me, you probably love spooky stuff all year-round, so Halloweentime can never come fast enough! Sometimes, though, it can be tough to get into the Halloween spirit. If you're really busy or distracted, you might never get around to that magical Halloween feeling that usually comes effortlessly the second they start stocking candy corn at Walgreens. While the Halloween spirit can't be forced, you can coerce it out of hiding with scary movies, a trip to a Halloween store, or doing some fun Halloween activities! Set aside a little time every day of October to enjoy the spookiness of the season!

Watch Horror and Halloween Themed Movies

I love to watch horror films at any time, but they are especially fun to watch around Halloween! Also, I tend have a higher tolerance for cheesy or bad horror movies when I'm surrounded by pumpkins and candy corn. Some of my favorite films to watch around Halloween are...

Evil Dead series

The Lost Boys

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Friday the 13th series

Nightmare on Elm Street series

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

The Wicker Man

The Shining

Sleepy Hollow

High Tension

Ringu (The Ring)
