Things To Do in April

Updated on January 5, 2015

Because It's April

There doesn't seem to be a good picture that everyone agrees would represent April, so I am providing a beautiful picture of strawberries, which are almost always in season by the beginning of the month. In the US.

Fiscal Things to Do In April

Well, THE Fiscal Thing to Do in April

Your Taxes! Every year, the exact middle of the month is the most stressful day of the year for a large majority of the US population because that is when taxes are due. If the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday, you might get an extra day or two, but if you haven't started your taxes before the first, get crackin! The lines at the post office are long and even if you file electronically, you might have questions that need answers so earlier is always better. Some year, I'll even take my own advice.

Also, once you've filed, you can track your tax return at www.IRS.gov/refunds.

Keep Track of Your Expenses

People underestimate the need to keep track of their money. This is especially true if you have any sort of side job (like freelance writing, Squidoo lenses, etc.) that you might make money on. The Dome ledger is really easy to use it makes it really helpful at the end of the year to figure out what you can deduct on your taxes. (See above)

One of the Religious Biggies: Pesach (aka Passover)

This is not the place you are going to learn about it, because there are many better places to do that (for example, http://www.chabad.org/holidays/passover/pesach_cdo... but I would be remiss if I didn't at least mention it. Due to the vagaries of the Jewish calendar, not all of Passover is always in April, but I cannot remember when NONE of it was in April, so I am including it here.

It was a bright cold day in April and the clocks were striking thirteen.

— George Orwell, 1984
