Updated on May 8, 2014

Organizing a Birthday Party

Having a birthday party is not that easy has it seems. There is too much to think and prepare. There's the guest list, the shopping list, the music, the decoration and many other things.

My job here is to help you organize a birthday party easily and without problems. Read all steps and all advice and tips.

And don't forget to share with us your ideas on the Comment Box.

.

Making a Guest List

One of the first things that you should make is the guest list. It is important to know how many people you intend to invite (and how many are going to show up). Only before that you can start planning the other things.

Depending on the type of party you can go from 10 to a 50 guests. Do you prefer small parties? Do you want to invite all your friends and acquaintances? It is up to you.

About the invitations, you have to make your own or print some you can find on the internet. You can send them by mail (send them at least 2 weeks before the party) or hand deliver.

Just don't forget to put:

- the date

- location (with a map)

- hours

- the information to respond as soon as possible;

Choosing the Theme

Nowadays most parties have a theme. It is not necessary but it can be very fun.

Hawaiian, Mexican, hippie, 80's, pajama, disco, heroes and medieval. Those are only some examples of the many themes you can choose.

Just remember to tell all the guests when you invite them.

Then, take care of the decorations. You should have the place filled with an appropriated decor.

Planing the Food

Another important thing is the food and drinks. As you don't know what the guests like, you are going to need a great variety of food.

The most common food used on birthday parties are: chips, croissants, ham and cheese sandwiches, puffs, jelly, pop corns and some cakes.

Keep in mind that you should have a wide variety of food but not too much quantity, otherwise your going to spend the next days eat all the leftovers.

If you're having a theme party, try to have some food related to that theme. For example, if you're having a hippie party, try adding some colorful food and drinks.

Having the right accessories on your party is essential. It makes the party much more fun and colorful. Either you buy balloons, hats or any other kind of decorations. Specially on kids parties, it's important to have something for all the guests.

Of course it depends on which theme party you want to organize but there a thousands of things that you can use!
