Updated on March 12, 2013

Hollywood's Famous Scary Cars

Happy Halloween folks. What we have here is a list of the 10 famous creepy cars from films and television. Being a fan of the horror movie genre I was able to quickly choose make my pics for creepiest rides. Do you agree with my picks or do you have even scarier?

Leave a comment and let me know. I do respond.

Ecto 1

Ecto 1

#10 Famous Scary Car

1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor that was once a hearse re-tooled for the Ghost Busting team.

I remember this one from my child hood. I even saw it in the theaters and loved it. Ecto 1 is number 10 on my top 10 famous spooky car list. It's a hearse for corn's sake. That and it is home to green slime, ghost traps and specters.

Made from 3 Model T bodies and is 18' long. The 133" frame

The Munster Koach was the family car that was used in the television series, The Munsters. This car is often referred to as the Drag-U-La which is a common misconception. TheDrag-U-La was built from a real fiberglass coffin that Richard "Korky" Korkes was able to purchase out the back door of a funeral home in North Hollywood.

Knight Industries Two Thousand aka 1982 Pontiac Trans Am

The witty and often cocky KITT would help Michael Knight fight crime and came complete with turbo boost, cloaking and a whole other slew of spy gadgetry Oh yeah and it talks. KITT's black body is accented with an oscillating red light to show off it's toughness.

The Batmobile

#6 Famous Scary Car

Built on a Chevy Impala chassis.

From the 1989 box office hit Batman. This was another one I saw in the theaters as a kid. While Batman was using this vehicle for good it was designed to be intimidating in order to strike fear in the hearts of evil do-ers. I wouldn't want to run into this in a dark alley.

      Great list!!

There was another movie in the 70s called "The Car". One of the original horror flicks focused strictly on the automobile. It was around before Christine and i always thought this may jave been some of the inspiration. My personal pick from this list has to be Christine.

I can't believe people think the Munster coach is Dragula. Dragula was Grandpa Munster's car.

Wow you came up with a lot. All I could think of was Christine. Although.......I kind of think of Kitt and the Batmobile as doing good not evil

I love this page! I made it to #3 and thought, "He must be going strictly by the movies, because the Christine from the BOOK was terrifying, totally deserving of the #1 spot!"... but then made it to #1 and -- oh my! I'd completely forgotten the car from Jeepers Creepers, a movie that was so very much scarier than it looked like it was going to be. I remember watching that for the first time. Everyone else in my household was asleep when I put it on. I wound up turning it off, and trying again when they woke. Too creepy for the only company to be sleeping!

By the time I was done I had a pretty decent list so much so that I will probably do something like this again next Halloween. Thanks for the squidlove by the way.

      Your right on the money.

The only thing scarier was my father getting behind the wheel of his 68 Oldsmobile tank (Delmont 88) when he was getting to old to drive and too thick headed to give up the keys. Lol

@umarshehzad lm: I was going with the perspective of how menacing the vehicle would seem to me at the end of a long dark alley. You associate Knight Rider with good because of the tv show, but if all you saw was you saw a black Trans Am with a red oscillating light at the end of a dark deserted alley way revving it's engine I think you'd change your tune. Thanks for stopping by.

Well most of the cars are kinda funny. but i don't see how u listed knight rider car amongst these cars. knight rider was more a dashing car than scary. nice lens though thumbs up..

Thanks I've since gone back and watched Escape From New York. When I created this list I was reminded of so many good older movies that I haven't seen in forever.

I think that in the right setting that KITT would be scary. In a dark parking lot, nothing but the red oscillating light. I think that would do it for me.

KITT - now, that's just funny - not scary :)

@Shane-o: I was trying not to pick the creepiest movie, but rather the creepiest cars. I think the Creeper is the Scariest vehicle even though the movie wasn't very good. Christine is the creepiest on this list, but I didn't think on it's own it was the scariest vehicle.
