Travel bar sets are back 'in' these days!

John and I have a travel bar set and love to tote it along on our car trips (it's too difficult to take on flights these days) - no, we don't use it while driving but, after a long and dusty road trip, once you're in the hotel, a cold martini will never taste better. And, there's just something about a kit that I love - it doesn't matter if it's a travel sewing kit or a travel bar - kits are just plain old cool.

Any or all of these portable cocktail bars would make wonderful birthday, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas or Chanukah gifts for someone who loves to travel and imbibe.

So, come along and find some of the coolest and nicest traveling bars that I could find. And, happy travels!

Note: I also think portable travel bar sets are a great gift for any caregiver. When I was caring for my elderly Mom, Gertie, our travel bar was never far away at happy hour. You can see more travel bars (along with some excellent gifts for the elderly) on my web article: Portable Travel Bar Sets.

Updated 23MAR13 - When I first wrote this Travel Bar article, there were only 5 choices; today, there are 28 travel bar sets on this Squidoo article. So, stay tuned - I find new travel bar sets all the time and will put them right here for you.

Update: 3MAY13: I brought our travel bar with me on my month long vacation to Tucson. It came through perfectly intact. Glad to have it along!

Picnic Time Deluxe Portable Travel Bar Set

in Black and Green

Investing in this travel bar means that you're investing in one of the best! This is a portable cocktail party ready to happen. This travel bar set is more geared to the manhattan, martini, or cosmo lover but that shouldn't top you from mixing up a good bourbon and coke.

Included in this leatherette case are shakers, strainers, jiggers (who measures?!), martini glasses and room for two of your favorite spirits. It even comes with a spray atomizer for just the right touch of vermouth in that martini.

The mahogany leatherette travel bar case is fully insulated with velveteen interior. This is the picnic travel bar set to get if you love an antique look - you won't be disappointed. This set includes all kinds of tools to help you shake a martini or spear an olive. With a detachable shoulder strap, you could tote this cocktail case bar to a ball park as easily as to a picnic.

I'll bet a favorite man in your life will love this travel bar set for Father's Day or, heck, make it a great Christmas!

This Lovely Two Tone Three Bottle Bartender's Cocktail Bar Travel Bar with Tools Can Be Yours!

This is one of the prettiest travel bars around, in my humble opinion. This travel bar holds three bottles of liquor - my parent's was stocked with Scotch (Dad), Bourbon (Mom) and Vodka (me).

And, it comes complete with every tool you'll need to make the best Rob Roy, Dry Martini, Manhattan, or Cosmopolitan around.

4 metal cups are provided (tip: pre-chill them with ice water before adding your ice cold cocktail!) along with a beautiful silver tray. All you need is to hire a server to bring your cocktail right to your bar chair.

And, as a nice bonus, two reviewers on Amazon noted that they contacted the seller and he monogrammed initials on top, free of charge. What a nice touch!

This is the perfect travel bar set for anyone on the go who enjoys a good happy hour.

Someone gave me some Ann Taintor cocktail napkins once and I was sold. I love the sayings her products carry - most of them have a fun twist to them. But browse through a few of her fun travel flasks and tell me she isn't funny....

A very compact 10-piece leather travel bar set

for the most discriminating traveler

This very cool leather travel bar set is a party just waiting to happen. Fill up all 3 flasks, add ice to the enclosed container, pour in your jiggers of vodka, shake (not stir) and, voila - 4 amazing martinis to pour in the awaiting cups (chilling the cups would be a nice touch - just fill with ice and water and dump out right before you add your liquor).

Perfect for a concert, picnic or even to take along on a golf course - well, you should celebrate that hole in one!

I found this very interesting as I had never ever thought about a travel bar. I admit I vaguely recall that they were popular many years ago, but have never considered using one until now. I feel educated!

We could have used one of these traveling bar sets when we took our Amtrak trip. As we leisurely watched the scenery sliding past, we could have had a nice cocktail in our compartment without having to go down to the bar car.
