Best Gifts for 9 Year Old Boys

Are you looking for the best gifts for 9 year old boys? There are some terrific gifts including toys and educational presents! Guys of this age are adventurous and like something to build and recreate.

You're going to love the selections and varieties that are offered and best of all there is something to suit every budget from as little as $10 right up to more expensive 9 year old boy gifts. I know a few boys in this age group (they live across the road from my parents) and have also done a little research to bring this page together.

How to choose gifts for 9 year old boys

There are a few things you can do to help you find gifts for 9 year old boys. This will ensure you buy something that will be used and appreciated. There is nothing worse than buying something that is chucked in the corner or even worse thrown straight in the bin (unfortunately little boys can sometimes be ungrateful).

Firstly you can ask them what they would like (I always do this whenever I am buying). Get them to make a list of things because at least then you know you will be making them happy whenever they tear open the wrapping paper. If you are buying for someone you do not know well enough to ask, try to find somebody who knows them and get them to give you a list. When you do buy the gift you can give the parents the gift receipt so that they can get the item exchanged if necessary. They might need to do this is two people buy the same thing or if the child already has the item you bought.

If you cannot get a wishlist, find out what sports and other hobbies they pursue. If they love hockey you may want to get them a a tabletop hockey set as shown below or a shirt for their favorite team. If they are into Science you might want to get an Invention kit or other ScienceWiz kit.

Before making the purchase be sure to check recommended age ranges. There is no point in buying a toy recommended for 3 year olds or a gift recommended for 15 year old boys. I do hope these are useful suggestions when choosing 9 year old boy gifts.

Your budget may also influence the gift you choose but remember money is not everything and sometimes a cheaper gift may be more appreciated than something more expensive. This should help you find the best gifts for 9 year old boys.

Sports Gifts for 9 year old boys

Sports gifts for 9 year old boys are very popular, whether you are buying for a hockey fan or football fan there is something for everyone here. These all have one thing in common; they are good fun and help social skills as they are team games. This is a good way to form relationships between kids.

The tabletop sets are a great idea as they are much cheaper than an actual full size table. This way you can see if the little boy enjoys the game before splashing out on the full size table. Choose from hockey, soccer or pool; he is sure to love one of these.

These are great as they do not take up a lot of space. You can definately find the best gifts for 9 year old boys here.

Why I like outdoor toys for 9 year old boys

They are a great way to encourage boys to get active as opposed to spending time on Xbox. Keep little boys fit and healthy with these fun toys.

Archery for kids is great outdoor toys for 9 year old boys

This junior archery kit is one of the great outdoor toys for 9 year old boys. It allows them to get out and get some fresh air, while getting some physical activity, as well.

This is also great practice for boys who desire to go bow hunting one day, when they get older. This kit comes with a bow and 18 arrows with rubber tips for safety, and a target sheet is included.

This is also great for pretend play, and gives your child a way to learn focusing and aiming!

Warning Scientist Ahead!

If you are buying for someone who is scientifically minded then you ought to consider these kits. These will provide hours of fun! I fell into this category.

Let them use their imagination and invent

ScienceWiz / Inventions Kit
ScienceWiz / Inventions Kit

This award winning kit allows you to build items such as a real radio, a light-flashing generator, a motor and a telegraph.

Instructions are clear and easy, and the receiver will love receiving this Science kit as a gift!

Allow your son to discover the "why" as well as the "how," using everyday products. A book and some materials are included in this kit, which makes a fabulous present!

Chemistry Experiments for 9 year old boys

Science Wiz Chemistry Experiments Kit
Science Wiz Chemistry Experiments Kit

I had something similar over 20 years ago and wish I had not thrown it away although I think I had used all the supplies!

I got a chemistry set when I was 8/9 years old

I remember asking Santa for a chemistry set when I was 8 and a half years old and sure enough on Christmas morning there it was. I always dreamt of being a scientist so I was so excited to receive a conical flask, chemicals, goggles and an instruction manual. To be perfectly honest my memories of this are limited (it was 20 years ago), but what I can remember is mixing things together and observing color changes as a reaction took place. I can also remember blue crystals, which I think were something to do with copper sulfate.

The set was designed for kids under 10 so it contained no dangerous chemicals but enough to give a brief idea of what science was all about. I had great fun and this set me up for doing Science at secondary school, and here I am 20 years later working in a Chemistry lab! The only difference now is that I actually know more about the types of reactions that occur! Who would have thought that a Christmas present I received when I was 8 years old would lead to this!

Christmas Wishlist for 9 year old boys

I asked the little boys across the road what they liked most as a gift. One was really into Science type toys and inventions. He wants to be an astronaut when he is older!! The other likes kicking a ball around and wants a new football top as well as tickets to watch his beloved Manchester United.

Board games are a great way for the whole family to bond

Family time is very important and as little boys approach their teen years they start to drift away from their family and instead enjoy spending time with their friends! Therefore it is a good idea to promote any activity which helps them to interact with family. I can remember my brother and I playing a popular board game, Monopoly, with Mum and Dad every Christmas! This encouraged bonding (and squabbling) as we disagreed on who ended up winning! All in all it was a laugh and one of the things I remember from being 9 years old!

Totally Gross the Game

Totally Gross: The Game of Science
Totally Gross: The Game of Science

This Totally Gross Game is the winner of the iparenting media award! It includes over 220 Science questions and activities! It can by played by 2-4 players, and is recommended for ages over 8 years old, however children as young as 6 and 7 can enjoy this board game.

This educational toy could help encourage your child to take more interest in science lessons at school! Surely anything that may improve your kids grades is worth a shot!!

Boys love gross things especially the slime included! A useful tip is to rub the slime in your hands to heat it up or you have no chance of stretching it!

Adults and kids alike can play this game but some people have said that it is best played amongst a group of similar aged kids.

Some Other Ideas for 9 year old boys

There are just a few suggestions on this page so I thought I would come up with some more, of course these will depend on their budget:-

CDs of their favorite band or an Itunes gift card so that they can buy downloads

DVDs- is there a particular TV series they enjoy watching? Maybe a Boxset might be a good gift.

Books

Video Games

Concert Tickets

Tickets to a football game
