A Tour of Outdoor Christmas Decorations

Updated on November 9, 2013

Neighborhood Outdoor Christmas Decorations

Outdoor Christmas decorations are popular in my neighborhood so on a beautiful December 1st evening with a full moon and a clear crisp sky,  I decided it would be a good time to tour my neighborhood, camera in hand, and view the neighborhood Christmas decorations.

Everybody seemed to enjoy my tour of Halloween decorations In October so a repeat of the neighborhood in the Christmas splendor seemed to be in order.

My neighborhood goes all out for Christmas with most every house having some type of decoration. Many houses have the classy white lights, like the one in this photo, but others venture into various themes.  I found lots of lighted deer and some wonderful inflatable Christmas characters.  One house even had Christmas music piped out for all that pass by to hear!

I had a very enjoyable walk and I hope you enjoy the tour.

Nativity Scene - classic scene shows true meaning of Christmas

This sleigh and reindeer is a great outdoor decoration.

New Camera=Better Photos - Canon Powershot

I got a new camera this year and it really made a difference in my Christmas decoration photos. I could take good shots of the Christmas lights with little blur when using the nighttime setting.

Lighted Penguin Adds to Christmas Decor - lighted walk

Penquin Outdoor Christmas Decorations

It is hard to get good photographs in the evening without a tripod, but I think you can get the idea of these decorations from this photo. The walk is lined with luminaries and there is a cute little lighted penguin in the front yard.

Lighted Bushes - colored holiday lights

This house had a simple decor with multi-colored bushes and garland around the railing.

Classic but Beautiful White Lights

This house just has their bushes decorated with white lights. It is a simple but beautiful look.

Candy Canes for your Outdoor Display - Christmas lights to line your walk

I think these candy canes would be great to line your walk or driveway.

Lighted Deer by Pond - beautiful Christmas decor

This house is a bit more elaborate. I love the lighted columns and the blue lights around the planting area. It makes it look as if the deer is stopping by for a drink. This house is just a couple doors down from mine and I'm always impressed with their decor.

Total Christmas Decorations

Here you see the deer pond as part of the total picture.

Outdoor Rope Lights - great for columns

These rope lights would work great for lighting columns or banisters.

What a difference a year makes! - my house last year

Last year we got a beautiful snowfall just before Christmas. Here is a photo of my house decorated for Christmas and covered in snow.

You are so blessed to live in an area where people still decorate for Christmas. The neighborhood looks lovely and your house just looks like Christmas. So pretty. Enjoyed strolling through your town.

Thanks for sharing the fun pictures. Convincing my husband to decorate every year can be difficult, but we drive around a bunch of neighborhoods to look at the lights after going to Christmas eve services each year. We've been doing this for the last 15 years....guess that makes it a tradition :)

We have a lighted Nativity set and a few lights on the trees. One of our neighbors really does things up - his house can be seen from quite a far distance from the overall glow it radiates! The electric company must love him!! =)

I know it's too early for Christmas (October), but my wif and I have been collecting Christmas junk for years. We love to light up our yard! Great lens. I will try to return around the season!

I haven't done this lately; but I used to make a giant Christmas card out of a 4'x4' plywood board and painted it with a message. I drilled tiny holes around the edge and put little white lights in them. I also like to use luminaries.

Driving around looking at Christmas lights is one of our favorite things to do as a family. My parents gave me a big inflatable penguin for the balcony of my condo; I put it up every year.

Beautiful Christmas decorations! Loved the tour. These days I only decorate with my Nativity Set and collection of Christmas mugs. We live off the road, so no one would see any outside decorations. Your house is so pretty in the snow. Merry Christmas to you, too!

Liked all the pictures you showcase here. And as I can see there's no need to get extravagant to have a nice (wonderful) looking home for Christmas. Especially the house with simple decor looks so warm!

Great idea. There is a house down the road. The city must be funding it. But the entire house from top to edge of the lawn is decorated. Lights and all.

Nice! When our children were small, we used to take a tour around town in the car one clear night every December and look at all the fabulous outdoor Christmas decorations. The kids would oooh and ahh at all the pretty lights and fun Santas and reindeer and lighted displays.
