The Small Essentials!

Security Comes First!

Get a lock!

It is important to make sure bags are secured. Not only can people 'plant' unwanted and dangerous items in bags but things can get stolen.

A tip to tell the traveler: Keep your bags close to you at the airport and transport terminals...don't leave them unattended. Unattended baggage is not only an invitation to would-be criminals but also becomes a suspicious item. You wouldn't like to know the security alert at the airport was your bags under suspicion and likely to be blown up!

Victorinox Travel Gear Lifestyle Accessories 3.0 Travel Sentry Approved Lock Set - $25.00

Keep items secure with these airport approved key locks. The TAS combination lock secures belongings while in transit. It allows U.S. airport security to open the lock without destroying it and to relock it after inspection. The lock is sized to fit through locking zipper sliders on luggage and briefcases and the three-digit combination can be reset as required

Transport Security Administration (known as TSA) screens the baggage of every passenger before the items are placed on the aeroplane. As the TSA must sometimes open bags to inspect further they have worked with several companies to develop locks that can be opened by their security officers using a universal "master" key. As a result it is important to get a TSA approved security lock.

Have money and passports handy! Make sure that you keep these secure.

For Contact Lens Wearers - Never leave your solutions to chance!

As a contact lens wearer myself I know how important it is to have your solutions, lens case and backup glasses handy. Believe me, I have forgotten solutions in the past and it's not always easy to get the brand your eyes have become accustomed to! This now is one of my top priorities when I travel...checking my lens bag has all the right solutions and enough for my journey.

Lens wearers may notice that their eyes become red during travel. This is normal, if not very nice. Any disruption to normal activities can make your eyes red. That's all the more reason to have the right solutions on hand.

For Power While Travelling

Have gadgets ready for use!

A gadget such as an AC Adapter allows the use of favorite electrical appliance while travelling.

Travel Pillow

Travel in comfort!

Arrive refreshed and with no crick in the neck! Travel pillows are vital on a long journey.

Tell the traveler....

Always pack your own bags!

If asked to take something for a friend or acquaintance ask if you can see the contents. You need to know what you are carrying! You must know what you have in your bags!

Do you love travel?

It's about the bigger picture!

Luggage

Disadvantages of and old bag.

Does your intrepid traveler have a case like this?

If their case look like this it's time to get a new one! Old cases such as this should be retired and no longer be traveing.

Old cases with hard sides such as the one in the picture tend to be VERY heavy and valuable weight would be sacrificed by using it. They are subject to damage and most likely the old case belonged to someone else that meant something to the traveler...sentimental reasons for keeping it. Suggest they use it as a treasure box in a child's room or keep it in their home as an attraction. Got a teddy bear collection? Put all the teddies together in the case, open and on show.

A Tip For the Taveller

Break out of the camouflage!

These days there are many bags that look so similar...it's like a jungle on that conveyor! Even the luggage you bought to look special and unique can get blurred when looking at all those cases going around the conveyor. Especially if you're in a hurry!

One way to help you identify your personal luggage is to attach a tape or colored ribbon around the handle of the case.

Another Tip:

Leave your contact details with a trusted neighbor, a friend and family.

Keep in contact with family and let them know if you cannot be contacted for a while. No use letting them worry! Have a regular day that you contact them but be aware of time differences!

Let family know if you change your plans!
