Top Travel Gifts for Men

Travel has indeed become a big part of life for scattered families and with vastly increased national and international mobility we are spread everywhere.

Think of the scenarios most frequent travelers face. Travel is not all fun. It is often stressful. Waits at the airports can be boring and standing at security lines can be trying. Once, when we stopped over Mumbai, every carry-on had to be tagged and stamped and we had to go down dark dirty rooms to identify our luggage.

So, when you think of gifts for travel, consider what would make travel less of a pain. Well provisioned, travel for the men in your gift list can be eased a little. If they are not travellers yet, give them gifts to kick-start them out of their arm chairs and soon they will be rolling their suitcases, too.

But for men who travel frequently, the top gifts to give are gadgets that would make travel less stressful and more enjoyable.

1. Gift of Communication

What better gift can you give one who is constantly on the road than this gift of being able to keep in touch with home or with friends. Or, once they arrive in another country will allow them to set up meetings, call up their contacts, make necessary reservations, check their emails or browse for much needed info.

Nothing can indeed compare to this gift especially if they don't have one yet. Chances are they already have one but this is not a problem. Upgrade what they have. You don't have to break the bank but a smart phone they can use is essential.

2. Travel Organizers for Small Electronics - Men Love this

Of course, there is always the family full time traveller with more travel stuff than a suitcase store!

Yes, what do you give someone who roams the world and probably has a museum of legacy clocks and suitcases (wheels broken) or neck pillows or insane adventure clothes for the safari in London or Margate or Cleveland? Or, someone who has done it all, seen it all and still has the most appalling T Shirts in memory of dead destinations.

Give them gifts that they'll use and enjoy and not put in their drawers to be given to some unsuspecting friends (maybe you!).

3. Noise Cancelling Headphone

Not everything needs to be practical and cheap. Some things do enhance a travel experience and this noise cancelling headphone is a luxury. But if you can afford it, don't hesitate. You will make your man happy as he can use this all the time if he is to travel constantly.

Hands down this is the best choice in the market for noise cancelling headset. The price is a bit prohibitive but it is worth it. Bose has really done its research and just like its other products you can hear what you can't in the other products in the market. It has a carrying case to protect it well and the only downside is it runs on AAA batteries. However, people claim they haven't yet changed batteries even if they've used this on several trips even including a 15-hour one. But just to be sure, always carry spare AAA.

4. Fabulous Men Sunglasses

There's no point travelling, if you're not gonna look cool.

Yes, everyone needs sunglasses and because it is an item we often lose when we travel, a number of them will not hurt. Give the men in your gift list who travel often one of these.

6. Travel Speakers

What about travel speakers? Fill their travel with music.Travel SpeakerTravel speakers are fantastic for men who often travel. They can listen to their own music collection wherever they are.

There are so many choices and the price range offers options for any budget. But our choice of travel speaker is the Lifetrons Drumbass IIIe. This set of speakers makes listening to music worthwhile. If you want bluetooth, get the latest offer from Lifetrons.

7. Apple iPad

Often, when only on short trips, my husband and I just bring our iPad with us and it serves well for the things we need to do. It is much lighter. It is also easier to take out at airline security.

This maybe expensive but for male family members or really good friends, this will be much appreciated. Light for travel and for short trips, this is all your male friends will need. Think of them taking selfies in front of Angkor Wat or the Great Wall.

Gift for the Family Young Traveler

Get your Men Immediately Connected when they travel

A major investment but worth it. It doesn't have to be an Apple. There are other tablets you can choose from that are equally good but if you can afford it, give your man an iPad. I prefer the mini for travel as it is lighter especially when you read your Kindle from it or your iBooks. It occupies less space, something you can easily put in a men's purse. This will keep them entertained listening to iTunes collection of their favourites or surfing for more info on the place they are visiting.

Through Face time you can also see where he is and be in touch in a much more satisfying way. Download the free Skype app so he can call you on your Skype. Also, if you have an Apple Mac, you can connect his iPad iPhoto to this and enjoy all the pictures he takes from his travels. You can also load it with his favourite books so those long waits in airports and long flights will be more tolerable.

8. The Gift of a Kindle

If you are not an iPad fan

Yes. When you lug several books to ensure you have something interesting to read in your travel, you will appreciate having a Kindle. It is like carrying a library with you. You can also download books that you often will not find in the countries you travel to.

My husband and I have had our Kindles for years now and they have helped us go through those long waits in airports. By having a Kindle, you are always assured of having an interesting book to read. If you run out of interesting books, don't worry. Most airports now have WiFi, just download on your Kindle the books that interest you.

In one airport we were in, we used our Kindle to access our emails.

For the men in your gift list who travel often, get them a Kindle. Take a look at the Kindle paper white. The older ones may prefer this.

9. Multitool for Travel

In our travels, we often bring our leatherman and it has helped us out many times. This help is not just for cutting fruits in hotel rooms but cooking dinners for families and friends, fixing tables, chairs and other office appliances at international assignments and repairing travel items.

This is really useful for your men friends who travel often. Make sure it has a corkscrew to open wines in hotel rooms, cut some of those dried meat for those who want to make their own sandwiches in their hotel rooms or, for that matter, those who just want some fruit or veggies once in a while.

As well, the leatherman can help them fix almost anything from leaking faucets to tiny other items that can really let go in your travel. Make sure they check this in. if they don't check in luggage when they travel, forget it. But if they do, give them this. This will be handy.
