Happy Valentine Poems and Sayings

Updated on July 7, 2015

Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet and blah, blah, blah. This may be used in Valentine poems in the movies, but in reality, it just wouldn’t fly.

If you want to add nice words to any card, there is typically three categories to look into: Poems, sayings, and quotes. Whatever you choose, try to make it original, sweet and sincere.

Let’s take a closer glimpse into these categories for a few ideas to get you thinking.

Poems for Your Valentine

So you’re looking for some Valentine poems to use in a card or a love letter? Here are a few good examples:

  1. Your lips are red, your eyes are blue, I am so in love with you!

  2. Soft as the petals of a rose, tender as my lips kissing your nose. I want to say this in the most special way, Have a happy Valentine’s Day!

  3. Cuddles and kisses and bundles of flowers. Chocolates and dinner and love-making for hours. Will you be mine, my dearest Valentine?

  4. Cupid stuck me with his arrow from above, I’m drunk on love, love drunk, so in love!

  5. Forget the flowers and chocolates and gifts. To have you as mine today, is my only Valentine wish!

  6. Any day is a perfect day when I’m with you, dear. My Valentine, my heart, I’ll always keep you near!

  7. Your hand in mine as I gaze into your eyes, I count my lucky stars and am thankful you’re mine. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Valentine Card Rule #1: Avoid cheesy, cliche, overused anything. If you’re going to use something like the above, try switching up the poem with your own words.

Sayings for Your Valentine

Not the poetic type? That’s fine! Not every card needs to contain a poem, but it still needs some filler material. Using love or Valentine sayings in a card can get a message across just as easily.

Here’s some examples:

  1. If nothing lasts forever, will you be my nothing?

  2. The most eloquent silence is that of two mouths meeting in a kiss.

  3. A heart that loves is always young. Let’s be young together forever!

Valentine Card Rule #2: Make sure every single word you write in a card is true! So take all of that pent up ooey, gooey, mushy emotion and spew it into the card as now is the time to let it all out!
