Shower Him With Love On Valentine's Day Without Taking A Bath!

On February 15th, the thing you want is for your significant other to have a nice memory of a wonderful day. What you do not want is to be broke! Amazing Valentine's Day gifts don't have to cost a lot of money to be a big hit with the guy in your life! What they do need to be is on-target with what he's about -his interests, his hobbies, what he loves to do, or what he loves to do with you!

I'll give you a perfect example, my husband (of going-on 35 years). He's an avid golfer, he really doesn't have a lot of other hobbies, he loves going out to eat or eating what I cook for him, he lives for ice cream. And let's not forget romance - after all, it IS Valentine's Day! For fun, if I were to play the scene from the movie, "Fried Green Tomatoes," where Kathy Bates creates and wears a dress made entirely of Saran Wrap to greet her husband at the door... he'd be all about it! (Thank goodness I'm always too busy crocheting to come up with something that complex!)

So in the case of my husband, I'd give him a very happy Valentine's Day if I were to cook him a special dinner, buy him an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen for dessert, give him a gift card to Golf Galaxy in a Valentine card, and dress up pretty for him. Done!

Just really think about what your guy likes, and fill in the blanks! Do the two of you love to spend lazy Sundays doing jigsaw puzzles? Buy him a cool one with a picture you think he'd like. Is he into the whole red lacy Valentine lingerie thing? I'll fix you up with a couple of affordable little numbers. Does he have a favorite movie theater? You could always surprise him with movie tickets for the two of you to enjoy together. Does he love wearing fragrance? There's always that!

I really believe that celebrating Valentine's Day is about showing the other person you really "get" them, what they love, and that you tried to make them very happy! It's not about how much you spent and it's definitely not a contest of outspending one another.

Here's hoping the two of you have the best Valentine's Day ever, whether it's your first or 61st!

No Budget At All? - Things You Can Give That Don't Cost Money At All!

Let's say you had an unexpected big expense right before Valentine's, and you can't afford to do anything! Yikes! Don't panic... there are lots of ways to show your special guy you love him without spending money! Here are just a few ideas to get you started.

  1. Take him back to the place (either literally, or verbally) where you first met and tell him how glad you are you bumped into him that day!
  2. Make him a big handmade card and deliver it to him at work (if that's cool). If not, give it to him at dinner. Make it nice and mushy!
  3. Write up "gift certificates" for a free foot rub, back massage, whatever you want to do. Staple them together into a little booklet.
  4. Give him a "Men's Spa" - Play relaxing music while you place a hot steamy towel around his neck. Give him a full facial massage with cleanser, exfoliator, toner, and moisturizer. Finish with a scalp massage.
  5. Cook his favorite meal and/or bake his favorite dessert!

Please Say Hello! - Nice to meet you!
