Vampire Halloween Costume Ideas For Men

Updated on December 24, 2015

Dressing Up As A Bloodsucker This Halloween?

Then you are going to appreciate these Vampire Halloween Costume Ideas For Men. First, choose which vampire you want to dress up as, and today, that's a long list of choices. Vampires aren't the scary old monsters they used to be, not with characters like Edward Cullen, Jasper Hale, Stefan Salvatore, Damon Salvatore, Angel, Eric Northman, Bill Compton, Felipe De Castro, Jerry Dandrige, Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat, Deacon Frost, Marcus Van Sciver ... there's a few to begin with.

Along with great Halloween costume ideas you will also find a list of fictional vampires for you to look over and decide which one of these good looking bloodsuckers is Mr. Right! Thanks to movies and TV shows like Blade, The Twilight Saga, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, Interview With A Vampire, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, we have plenty of sexy, gothic and modern vampire types to pick from.

There's something mesmerizing about these characters, or as Twilight fans say, they are Dazzling. There is also something sad about them (the good ones, anyway) because they don't want to be what they are. They are also good looking, well dressed, usually very wealthy, and strong as can be. They might just be the perfect guy, well, not perfect because they do have a few faults ... the biggest of which is he will use blood, human or animal, as sustenance.

Mystery surrounds them and that's what makes a vampire costume a great Halloween costume theme. Vampires were once living, breathing human beings just like you and I. They were turned into creatures of the night who live off the blood of living beings, both human and animal. They are fast, strong, they live forever, they mystify us.

The Classic Gothic Vampire Costume

The classic gothic style vampire usually wears a black cape over his clothing. He is quite the dapper fellow too. He never shows up in jeans or dirty clothes, it's always black pants, a white shirt ... depending on just how old he is it can be a fancy, ruffled shirt, a vest, he can wear a tie or a bow tie, and a dinner jacket too. Why is the classic vamp always so dressed up? Because this bloodsucker is from another time, when dressing up was the custom. The perfect example of this fancy costume look is shown in this poster from Interview with the Vampire.

These fellows didn't have their cloaks on at the moment, but you get the idea. What a cast this film has! Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Antonio Banderas, Stephen Rea, Christian Slater and a very young and beautiful Kristen Dunst. You can find lots of interesting merchandise, books, DVDs and more at this link, Interview With The Vampire

The Vampire Lestat is from the book and movie, "Interview With The Vampire". When you watch the movie, Interview With The Vampire, take notice of all the costume changes the vampires have. This way you get a good idea of which costume look you would like to copy for your Halloween costume. I like the Victorian style, vests, ruffled shirts, long coats and even capes.

Another great example of the classic vampire look is George Hamilton in the comedy, "Love At First Bite". With a tanned George Hamilton as a dashing classic vampire in a modern world. Here's a picture of him in a tuxedo.

Here's a hysterical salt and pepper shaker I found with a Love At First Bite theme.

There's more where that came from, take a look at Love At First Bite

This Could Be A Come As You Are Party Costume!

Edward Cullen makes all the girls swoon, they are just "Dazzled" by this modern day vampire. Edward and the rest of the main characters of Twilight dress like kids do today. Rich kids but kids none the less. These are pretty easy costumes to make at home since they are going to be made out of stuff you wear every day. With an Edward Cullen costume dress like he does and then get lots of hair gel so you can become "THE HAIR" as Jessica calls him in Breaking Dawn part 1. Pictured below is the modern day look of the Twilight Vampires, The Cullen Clan: Rosalie, Esme, Carlisle, Edward, Emmett, Alice, and Jasper Hale.

From this picture you will see your everyday wardrobe will be a great outfit for one of the Cullin vampires. Each has his own look, Edward's hair is unique, Carlisle and Jasper are blonde and pale skinned, Emmett has dark hair cut close to his head and he is also pale skinned. The Cullens' feed on animal blood, not human blood. Their eyes are golden colored and you can use FX contact lenses to get that same look.

You can go back in time and dress according to the dates when the Twilight vamps were created, for Edward that would be 1917 and for Jasper it would be a Confederate Civil War Uniform since he was turned by Maria in 1863. Carlisle was turned in 1660 or around there, so you could dress in Renaissance style clothing, or Vampire Costume, for him and Emmett was turned in 1935.

If you like the bad boys in this film, you can choose the more formal classic look and dress as one of the Volturi. Here they are pictured below: Alec, Marcus, Aro, Caius, and Jane.

For a Volturi Costume, use cloaks or capes, vests, decorated ruffled shirts, will all work well. Dark pants, lighter shirts, will complete the costume look. The Vultori feed on humans and have red eyes, this look comes from those very cool FX contact lenses.

Classic Gothic Vampire Costume Or A Modern One?

What kind of vampire do you want to dress up as? Is it the classic vamp in gothic style clothing or is it a more modern look you are going for?

The True Blood Vampire Costume Ideas

Bill Compton And Eric Northman Are Vampires From True Blood

Who's your favorite male vampire from the HBO series, True Blood? The idea for True Blood come from books written by Charlene Harris. You can find The Southern Vampire Mysteries for sale here if you would like to read them, True Blood Books, or watch the many episodes of this TV series on DVDs on the Seasons of True Blood.

There are lots of vamps to choose from in this racy series. Eric Northman, Bill Compton, Russell Edgington, Liam, Malcolm, Godric, Franklin Mott, and like the Twilight Vampires these fellows each have their own look.

Eric is a modern day vampire, although he is over 1000 years old. Eric was a Viking prince when he was turned. His outfits are perfect to wear in his club, Fangtasia. He does wear a lot of leather and he looks good in it. Eric is tall, built and blonde, so for this costume look you will need a blonde wig unless you happen to have blonde hair yourself. Eric is pale and will need fangs.

Bill is another modern day vamp but you can also dress him in Civil War clothing since he was a soldier on his way home when he was turned. Bill has dark hair, long side burns, pale skin, and he will need some fangs too.

How To Make Your Vampire Costume Unique

You will see plenty of vampire costumes on Halloween and you want yours to be the best, or at least the most unique. How do you make your costume unique? Add something that shows your style. Is there something you always wear, some symbol that will make your friends think of you whenever they see it, something you always have with you? Add that to your Halloween costume.

If you always wear a Harley Davidson belt buckle, somehow incorporate that symbol into your costume.

Do you always wear cowboy boots? Be a "Western Style Vampire" and wear your cowboy boots. Are you always wearing a Yankee Shirt? Then become a Yankee baseball player who just happens to also be a vampire. Get my drift? Add something to your costume that's you, and it will be different from any of the other vampire costumes out there.

Have fun with your costume, after all, there are thousands of ways to create a unique look that's all your own. Just think about it and use your imagination! Don't forget your fangs and your fake blood!
