I grew up in the United States Midwest. I can always remember seeing the misty or orange moons and thinking about Fall and the beginning of Winter.
Until recently, I didn't know a lot about them. This website is not only about displaying the beauty of the Harvest Moon, but also has some fun trivia, quizzes and quotes.

The Harvest Moon
The Harvest Moon is not only the song by Neil Young, or the electronic game, it has been around for thousands of years.
Many have stood in awe and stared at the glowing or orange moon that you see around Fall. I personally thought there were many of them in a year but found out recently that there is only one. The Harvest Moon is the full moon that is closest to the Autumnal Equinox. It either occurs in late September or early October.
There is a confusion between the Harvest Moon and the Hunter's Moon because the Hunter's Moon is the first full moon after the Harvest Moon and most always occurs in October. So, when you hear someone say that it was a beautiful Harvest Moon and it is near Halloween, they are mistaken!
