What Women Really Want for Valentines Day
Impressing a Women is Not Hard
Why is it that men find it so hard to come up with a romantic, evening for Valentines Day that will impress their wife or girlfriend? We really don't want a lot of money spent on us, just some thought and time put into what would make us feel all warm and mushy inside.
The day is all about love. What do we love, what do we love to eat, what movies do we love to watch, what books do we love to read, and what past rime or hobby do we love? Put all of them together and it's a recipe for a successful evening, day, or date.
Chocolate is a Good Start
Every Woman Loves Chocolate
I have yet to met a woman who does not like chocolate, seriously. Chocolate does something to our brain, oh I could quote citations on how it changes our brain chemistry all all kinds of technical information. But, in the end it calms us, it makes us savor for moment, close our eyes and go,...mmmmm.
Woman also like pretty, cute, frilly, and fancy. So mix fancy and chocolate and you can't go wrong. Add in a touch of special and unexpected while your at it and any man will rock Valentines Day.
Buy Chocolate Online - It's Easy and Simple
Here are some ideas for chocolate gifts that are not your everyday run of the mill box of chocolates. You won't find these at any drug store of grocery store end aisle. Give your Valentine one of these chocolate delights and start the evening off on a sweet note.
Cover red, juicy, luscious strawberries with sweet chocolate and it's a heavenly dessert and perfect appetizer, or dessert to any dinner.
For those that love Oreos, these are something special. Sprinkled with red and while hearts it's sure to give you a hug and a kiss.
The chocolate in a heart shaped box may be cliched, but, it does work men.
I have a tendency to save the box and put photos in them, or love notes (hint hint...write love notes and put them around the house)
They are a reminder of the special day that should be carried throughout the year.
Chocolate Can Be Engaging - When you Do It As A Couple
If you have the time, why not make the appetizer an event and something to do together if you're eating in for dinner. Dip your own strawberries together in a fondue pot or homemade double boiler.
Everything is better, and more fun, when dipped in chocolate.
Prepare a tray of strawberries, bananas, marshmallows, or whatever fruits and snacks sound delicious. Who knows where the evening will take you when chocolate is involved.
Going out to Eat vs. Dining In
Now depending on the week I've had depends on whether I want to go out to eat, or stay in for Valentines Day. I don't mind waiting in line as long as it's not standing in the lobby with 20 other people holding a buzzer in one hand and my coat in the other.
If there is a bar, or lounge I'll gladly sit, have a mixed drink. Maybe something with Rumcahta (yum) and relax. Another perk for eating out is no dirty dishes to clean.
Don't know how to pick meat? Omaha Steak does it for you. Tender premium steaks with no fail instructions is the main course.
If culinary talents are not in your ballpark, then take your sweetheart out to eat. If not on Valentines day the weekend before. Present a card to 99 Restaurants and relax on an evening on the town.
Dine in Vs. Eat Out
Men, take note, if you do prepare a nice romantic meal at home, do the dishes, clean the kitchen. There is NOTHING more unromantic than having to do dishes after the fact.
Drinking champagne on Valentines Day is nice, but dropping fruit in the glass becomes memorizing and more than intoxicating. Blueberries, raspberries and kiwis collect bubbles and travel up and down the glass.
Not only does the champagne tickle your nose, but tickles your fancy and makes you giggle. Fun, fun, fun. Yes women are really easily amused.
Don't Forget the Fancy Glasses
Even if you go out to eat, stop by your favorite park (if it's warm where you are) or begin the night when you come home with a romantic drink. Presentation is key, remember it's all in the details.
Fine crystal and high quality glasses add ambiance and style to any dinner and state you have given the dinner some extra thought.
Fancy wine or champagne glasses can become a part of every romantic birthday, Valentines Day or Anniversary.
Buy them once and you will always have them at the ready when the romance strikes.
Movies and Candles
If you're staying home for Valentines movies cuddled up on the couch with chocolate and champagne is a sure fire ticket to that loving feeling. Now movies doesn't mean a shoot em up, or the St. Valentines Massacre.
We're talking "Chick Flick" here and guys, you can learn to love them. Set the mood with scented candles and let your sensitive side show.
My favorite pair. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Sleepless in Seattle is a classic and timeless. Fifty years from now our grandchildren will be watching this like our parents watched Casablanca.
Yes, another Tom Hanks, although You've Got Mail is a little dated with the era of Facebook, Twitter etc. it's still sweet.
Tom Cruise in his most romantic movie ever. The kiss between him and Renee Zellweger is a classic and rated as one of the best movie kisses of all times.
Men, use the quote "You complete me.." and you will have anyone of the female sex putty in your hands.
Or, You could go all out on Valentines Day - Really impress a lady....with jewelry
I'm not saying you have to men, but if simple and inexpensive is not your style, that's fine too. As long as your lady love is appreciative of the grand gestures of jewelry on Valentines Day.
You see, I was officially proposed to on Valentines Day, at the alter of our church. That's a story for later by the way. It has made Valentines Day even more special, and yes, my husband goes out of his way to make it a little special each year. Although he really can't top the proposal.
Before you buy jewelry pay attention to what type of jewelry she wears , is is mainly silver, gold, does she have a charm bracelet, wear necklaces or bracelets.
A diamond is a girls best friend, or at least that is how the saying goes.
I was extremely surprised when my fiancee proposed on Valentines Day. It was convenient that in 2011 Valentines Day fell on a Sunday. He arranged everything with the pastor who made up an excuse to hold us after church.
This was not uncommon as I teach Sunday school and also play the piano for special services. We walked up to the front of the church as a group and he dropped to one knee and held out a ring.
Yes, I teared up a bit.
If the special woman in your life is sentimental and likes bracelets a charm bracelet is a good choice, not only for her but you as well.
Just think, a charm bracelet is an easy gift idea for several occasions throughout the year.
Buy a special charm to commemorate a vacation, a hobby, the birth of a child, your anniversary month, or just love charms.
A charm bracelet can be an automatic win at every gift giving occasion.
