Using your imagination will help to make your party memorable! The more you get into the theme...the more you will get out of it. Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing!

Decorate the outside of the house. Put ballons on your mailbox and a sign near the front door that reads, "Hundred Acre Wood". After all - that's where Pooh & his friends live! Consider setting up a mock Rabbit's Garden complete with furrowed rows with vegetable markers and fake carrots.

Inside your house you can do all sorts of decorating! Set the mood by playing the The Many Songs of Winnie the Pooh. Make the inside of your house look like the Hundred Acre Wood. Make trees out of brown and green construction paper and put them on your walls. Make sure to hang a beehive from one of the branches - after all the only reason for making honey is so that Pooh can eat it! If you are stuck for more wall decorating ideas consider buying a pre-made 8' Tigger and Pooh Giant Decorating Set.

Winnie the Pooh History

Winnie-the-Pooh, commonly shortened to Pooh Bear and once referred to as Edward Bear, is a fictional bear created by A. A. Milne. The first collection of stories about the character was the book Winnie-the-Pooh (1926), and this was followed by The House at Pooh Corner (1928). Milne also included a poem about the bear in the children's verse book When We Were Very Young (1924) and many more in Now We Are Six (1927). All four volumes were illustrated by E. H. Shepard.

GIANT Winnie the Pooh Character Cut Outs

Having giant cutouts of all the characters from this book/movie series can be a fun way to decorate your party! You can put them in bare corners that need a little sprucing up or even use them as photo ops for guests. What kid wouldn't love to see a life-sized Tigger at his or her party? Not only that, but after the party is over, they can make a fun addition to any kids' room.

Tips for a Successful Party

  1. DON'T Stress! If something doesn't go 100% the way you planned it's ok! Odds are you are the only one who will notice anyway.
  2. Have snacks available for your guests from the moment they walk in the door.
  3. If you are feeding your guests more than just ice cream and cake - serve your meal about 1/2 hour after they arrive.
  4. Take LOTS of pictures! Please feel free to e-mail them to me at so I can post them here to share!
  5. Take one picture of all your guests and the birthday child together to use in your Thank You Notes.
  6. Remember to take a picture of the cake and your decorations BEFORE the party starts. You won't have time later.

Winnie the Pooh Cake Ideas

The cake will likely be the focal-point of your Winnie the Pooh birthday party so get your thinking caps on! Everyone has a different level of skill when it comes to baking and decorating cakes. There are some of us who are cake GURUS. You know to roll fondant and create amazing looking masterpieces! Then there are those of us who are basic decorators. No matter what your cake talent level is, you can make an amazing cake that will wow your guests and your birthday child!

There are a few ways you can go with your cake. The easiest is to buy a Winnie the Pooh shaped cake pan. Or you may consider making cupcakes giving each one it's own unique Pooh themed decoration like honey bees or flowers. This is the route we went with our cupcakes. If you are one of those "experts" you may want to sculpt your cake and roll fondant. Just keep your birthday kid in mind...who is his favorite Pooh character?
