Double Chocolate Cupcakes with Hands Reaching Out!

Don't let the Zombies rise from the dead! Quick, make sure you devour these walking undead foul creatures before they climb out of their shallow chocolate grave and take a bite out of you!

Step 1. Make or buy some plain chocolate cupcakes which will take on the appearance of dirt which your plastic hands are appearing out of. Allow your cupcakes to cool down before moving to the next step.

Step 2. Mmm even more chocolate with chocolate buttercream! If you haven't got a recipe for buttercream frosting, I recommend looking on allrecipes. Spread generously on the top of your chocolate zombie cupcakes with a small spatula or a blunt knife.

Step 3. For a really perfect appearance of dirt, cover your cupcakes with either grated chocolate or a dark biscuit like oreos which you can crush in a plastic bag with a rolling pin. I prefer chocolate myself! Dark chocolate has more of a dirt appearance OR a mix of dark and milk chocolate would also be good. Use a grater to make lots of chocolate shavings in a wide bowl, then dip each frosted cupcake topping into the bowl.

Step 4. Press your plastic hand firmly down into the center of each cupcake. You can purchase plastic hands or, if you're lucky, you may be able to get edible hands. Please inform recipients about any parts on the cupcake which are not edible.

Step 5. A Halloween cupcake wrapper will really set off your cupcakes nicely.

Cupcake Picks: Essential Topping for Undead Sweet Treats

These gruesome monster green hand cupcake, cake topper picks are such a gorily good idea for Halloween or Creepy parties and events. All you really need to do is make or buy chocolate cupcakes, sprinkle some crushed oreos or grated chocolate on top and stick the hands in. And, because they're plastic you can re-use them for your next party.

Graveyard RIP Raise the Dead Cupcakes

Moorishly Mint Chocolate Walking Undead Cupcakes

What's hiding underneath the grim grave? Perhaps a ghoul or two are waiting for you! Here's some undead cupcakes with a haunted RIP graveyard theme.

Step 1. Make or bake a batch of standard cupcakes. Chocolate would be best because it will look like authentic graveyard dirt but you could also use vanilla. Let your cupcakes cool down and then move right on to the next step.

Step 2. Whip up some mint buttercream. Mint frosting and chocolate cupcakes taste so good. You will need to add in some green food coloring to the frosting to make it look grass green. Use a small spatula or blunt knife to spread the mint frosting over the tops of your cupcakes.

Step 3. Make gravestones for your cupcakes by using rectangular shaped biscuits (small wafer biscuits are ideal) or chocolate wafer mints such as After Eight mints which would be scrumptious with the moorishly choco-mint flavors. Use some white icing and a thin circle icing nozzle to write RIP on your grave. You can easily purchase read-made white icing in squeezy tubes or bottles.

Step 4. Carefully push your gruesome grave down into the thick frosting of your cupcake. Add in any other spooky graveyard decorations like cupcake picks and edible sprinkles (bats, ghosts, ghouls, spiders) to create the scene.

Step 5. Place each little cake into Halloween cupcake wrappers and you've finished.

Matching Haunted Cake Items

Look out for some hauntingly good cupcake picks and wrappers for your graveyard themed treats. You can get themed plastic picks for your Halloween cake decorating including some R.I.P. Tombstones, Flying Bats and Cemetery Gate designs. And what about a haunted manor set too.

Other Walking Undead Party Food Ideas

Brain Gelatin Mold. Serve up Cupcakes with Other Gross Food

For a total undead gross-out, fill a gelatin brain mold with some green jello and add some gummy worms to the mix to create a Brain infested with worms. Guests should love it when they dig into the jello to reveal the writhing mass of worms inside! Kids love this idea. We tried this last year with great success.

Eyeballs are always a gross idea for Halloween – who fancies eating something that’s staring at you?

Fantastic Food and Recipes for Halloween

Want your Halloween party to be the talk of the town? There is a brilliant book called Hungry Halloween which gives you all the Halloween themed food ideas you need. You don't need to be super-confident in the kitchen as the book focuses on easy-step-by-step recipes that beginners can follow. Or how about the zombie book with instructions and recipes for themed cupcakes. Brilliant ideas for Halloween, horror-themed parties or to spook your friends with!

Fans of Walking Undead Should Love These Ideas

You don't need to be an expert baker to use these ideas for your own Halloween party. There's no shame in buying some pre-made chocolate cakes - chocolate is best since it actually looks like dirt that these foul creatures are likely to come out of or appear in - then decorate the tops. You could even get some pre-iced or frosted ones and then just stick your toppers in the middle. If you're rushing or short on time then that is a great option.

Another option is to buy a cake mix where much of the hard work is already done for you. So do not think that you cannot possibly make anything like this because it's too hard or it will take too long - there are always shortcuts you can make depending on your circumstances.

You may be able to find some gory body part lollipops that you can use to decorate your Zombie style treats. I've seen some pops myself that come with different fruity flavors on sticks such as fingers and eyeballs and that would look great used on your cakes as toppers or served along with them for your Halloween party.
