~ Don't Dye The Dog! ~

Updated on September 14, 2013
"Something's not right ... with my owner! "
"Something's not right ... with my owner! "
Dat,or Cog?
Dat,or Cog?
" What the hell just happened? "
" What the hell just happened? "

V1/ She's chestnut,no purple!

Then pink,wow! it's blonde;

Her hair changes colour,

At the wave of a wand.

With beautiful highlights,

Adorning her head;

Her mother cries out,

" Holy flip,now it's red! "

V2/ Orange,or yellow,

Perhaps olive green?

What will she try next,

This aubergine teen?

Violet,indigo or pastel-blue tint?

Now it's jasper that covers

Her cheeky new glint.

V3/ Her whimsical feelings,

Remain to be seen;

Hide the step-kids,and dogs,

Or she'll dye them light green.

V4/ Modest,coy face

Under tresses of hair;

What's peeking behind

Those locks,so fair?

Rainbow Angel,

You thrill me so;

A cherry-wine mane

Frames a radiant glow.

V5/ Carnelian Duchess,

With chalcedonic eyes;

Who's toying with mothers'

Peroxide dyes.

Your gorgeous blonde streaks,

Impressed upon me,

Sparking flames

From your smoking-hot chemistry.

      Lol! Nice one PHILLYDREAMER. I never really thought of it like that, but maybe on a subconscious level, it stops men from straying when she changes her look? Who knows?Such are the mysteries of life.

      I hope your new book is doing O.K.

      All the best;

      R.Q.

      Hair dye is a wonderful thing. It's like having six women in one.

      Yeah;it just seems to be a mental illusion/delusion...I think that's right;'hallucination' is seeing something which isn't there,and 'illusion' is a false impression given by something which actually is there.Anyway;I digress...and haunted houses?I bet you have a few stories to tell from your city,I'll warrant.I think England is classed as the country with the most reported ghostly,spectral sightings in the world,but that's not too surprising,seeing as so many battles have been fought on this soil.

      Thanks again for the generous comment made on the poem,and pics.

      Have a good night!

      Yours Sincerely,

      R.Q.

      Haha, that is a funny story. It is amazing how creative people's minds get when they see something unfamiliar. At least tourism got a boost! That's kind of like when a house gets a reputation for being haunted, and all of a sudden it's a popular destination!

      Ha!Ha!... The baby lion turned out to be a doggy with a bouffant!I'm trying to picture that now...it's too funny,and cute lol!

      The closest story that springs to mind is 'The Beast of Bodmin Moor',that we had in the U.K. a while back....some folk claimed they'd seen this strange,mythical creature roaming the moors,and striking terror into the hearts of those who were unfortunate enough to meet his hellish gaze;something akin to the The Hound of the Baskervilles,by Conan Doyle,but it just turned out that some eccentric land-owner had imported an exotic pet from Africa,and let it roam free-the press lapped it up,and it was good for tourism!

      The poetry is clever, and the photos are funny. The tiger one reminds me of another dog that I saw online that was painted to look like a wildcat. It also reminds me of a dog that was in the local news a while ago (I forget if it was here in Boston, or in Connecticut): someone placed a 911 call, saying there was a baby lion running around his yard. It turned out to be a dog with his hair trimmed to look like a lion! On the news, they showed the dog, and it was ridiculously cute (not painted, but trimmed). It really did look like a small lion!

      Cat;

      Good point,well made.

      The entertainment factor of seeing a canine clown is meteoric,and yes,at least one knows that,at the very least,that their animal isn't being abused by their eccentric owner.There is obviously the practical benefits of togging up your beast in the harsh,winter months.

      If only people spent as much money on their kids,as they do their pets :)

      Romeos Quill,

      Yes, by all means, please do so :-)

      I don't understand it either, but I suppose I'd rather see someone dressing up their pup and giving it "odd" attention than neglecting it, so I'll take it... and it does provide some entertainment!

      Thank you very much and I can say the same to you!

      Thanks,Cat (If I may call you by that name - it's less of a mouthful than your ' nom de plume ').

      I don't particularly understand what goes through a pet-owner's mind when this happens -poor Fido!

      By the way,your articles rock!
