~ Equinox ~
V1/ Lactescent lunar eye, quiesced upon striated hills,
To wink her last, divine farewell, beneath the gloaming, calm and still.
Fillet clouds appear pallid; stairways lead a furtive sun,
Nature stirs her mewling tones, yesterday has been undone.
V2/ Carnations, sweetly peeping, ‘neath a dozen eyelids, weeping
Of aurorean, early dew, below a placid Alice blue.
Desert of looming visions, glaze a harvest paradise,
Revelations of their mission, adroitly staring, more than thrice.
V3/ Lemonade with cakes, bazaars and multi-coloured fetes,
Bleeding hearts of tarts and vicars, delighting bounteous strawberry pickers.
Children skip, collecting sweets, cows and sheep, must moo and bleat;
Girls and boys are talking brash, mouths writing cheques their form can’t cash.
V4/ Lo, the mournful winds now whistle, into a sad, untimely surge,
As they whip a tuneful dirge, across an empty grassy verge.
Nether roots of ancient trees, do weave the bones of those long dead;
Aloft, two lovers, amidst ensemble, triumphantly shared, be duly wed.
