~~~ Of the Shadow and the Gray ( Genna East Poetry Challenge ) ~~~
Updated on September 18, 2015
Good morning readers.
Here is a response to a poetic challenge invited by Genna East on HubPages.
The prerequisite is that it can be in any style based upon personal extractions from two videos which she has posted on snowy, winter scenes of survival, man pitted against wolf, but the final offering must comprise no more than eighty words in total.
For this challenge, I've chosen the form of lyrical poetry for their translation, so here goes! Enjoy!
~ White Havoc ~
V1/ As kismet sought crypt 'neath a nigh hoary breath,
Wert it sentient canine, descendant o' Seth;
Niveous flakes punctured times' vagrant wintrous sojourn,
Hiemel slakes, sutured ferns notched by midsummer's burn.
V2/ Nomadic dour frames of proud symmetry,
Prowling frostbitten fates' unquiet synergy;
Tales of sinew and claw to wit, nature's will bends,
Hath advantaged each foe to be nurtured as friends.
THE END
(Sixty-one words; excluding title )
      So good to see something from you again, R.Q.!
      This is exquisite; I was there in the cold, inhospitable landscape with the beauty and the danger all around. Love it!
      I'm going to try this but the standard so far will be hard to come up to; ah well, can't resist a challenge...
      Hope Lincolnshire is offering you some sunshine. France is offering us rain with a little teasing sun now and again!
      Ann
      Hello R.Q. you have penned dark passages to enhance the challenge that Genna East has inspired. Great contribution and difficult to make a statement in under 80 words, but you did it well.
      Ah ! It is about time I read another fantastic poem from you, Romeo. It has been too long waiting for more beauty from your Quill. I enjoyed this very much. Thank you.
      Hi Ann;
      Thanks a bundle for coming over and parking such wonderful reportage.
      Like most of us, have just been really busy with work and domestic politics to be able to just chill and write.
      Glad to hear that the elements are offering you something good now and again in picturesque France; I think the sun has finally packed his bags now in Lincolnshire leaving us only the heatless warmth of autumn rays but that's what you get for living up north lol!
      Look forward to reading your own reply Ann if you decide to commit pen to paper concerning Genna's challenge and also, catching up on a few Hubs as well.
      Warm Regards to you and your family;
      R.Q.
      Hello mckbirdbks;
      Thanks very much for your marvellous comment and enjoyed also, reading your own contribution on Genna East's comment box.
      Your'e right; some found the perimeter of eighty words to be a little constraining but I suppose scribing two separate poems, one for each video could be an alternate way of approaching the task if Genna didn't mind being inundated with so many responses lol!
      Thanks a million and best wishes to you and your kith and kin.
      A pleasure Phyllis and thank you for your uplifting kindness and support; have written a few over the last few weeks but just haven't published on HP ( some of them just too personal ).
      I hope that you are feeling physically a bit better now after encountering your own health issues and that you are enjoying life with your grandchildren and that things are generally going well for you and your family in mysterious Nevada.
      Enjoy a cracking weekend!
      Hi Faith;
      So good to have you drop by and thank you for your blessings which I value greatly.
      I recently got wind that you may decide to write (an) article(s) with a C.S. Lewis flavour in the vein of ' The Screwtape Letters '; that sounds like an awesome idea.
      I don't know what the premise of your approach will be ( perhaps you are not sure yet yourself even ), but if you're looking for a name for your ' Anti-Faith Reaper ' character as the nemesis, perhaps something like ' Wraith Creeper ' ( hey; at least it rhymes lol! ); maybe even put it out there and see if anyone can think of any suitable names - I don't know; just thinking out loud.
      Anyway, have a lovely weekend and I do drop by your page - you won't disappear into oblivion just because you're not publishing as often as you may like to so try not to worry dear heart.
      Warm Regards to you and your family;
      Hi RQ, I enjoyed that you treated the two films separately. You've conjured up some awesome images of the man vs wolf dilemma, and described vividly the intense and crushing cold. Unique, and nicely done.
