~ Phantasmagoria ~

Updated on August 31, 2014

~ Phantasmagoria ~

V1/ As dawn-rise steals a sallow lune,

And morning hoists aeneous balloon;

In glints, from hints of santa’s buckle,

Shift flagpoled hues of honeysuckle.

V2/ From docile scenes in pregnant yawn,

Aroused by schemes, reveille born;

Whence lone star blinks her sleepy orb,

In cornered mind of nature’s fraud.

V3/ Whenst someone, somewhere craves today

To lode inside and tame the fray,

Of ‘morrows, all whisked via secret breath

Which promised life, nay offered death.

V4/ Eburnean, sponge-like clouds of cream,

Yea, touched, by tip-toed reaching queen;

As countess butterfly rides the bow,

And mermaids splash way down below.

V5/ Fierce manticore prance shifting thermal,

In time’s abstract unwound diurnal;

Beneath high vaults of crystal cake,

In hoary sprinkles of niveous flake.

V6/ Lo, summer’s leys burst hyacinth rife,

When bairn believe nymph come to life.

Ballerinas cavort, pirouetting high,

‘Midst gambolling swans ‘neath domino sky.

V7/ Li’l Tommy blows bubbles from a rickety bed,

Bloat vaster than grandma’s tiny head;

Pseudonymous creatures leapfrog gleams,

Then hitch a ride to their next dream.

V8/ Hornbeams, may lower green bough sublime,

To comb their leaves with porcupine,

As raspberry tigers doth play-fight babies,

Then waltz a tune with rotund ladies.

V9/ Skimming diamonds ‘cross the lake,

Like pebbles they bounce a watery wake;

They halt, and plop, then sink in capture,

Below horizoned liquid rapture.

V10/ Unseen beings of agape,

Stretch out their fins to catch this prey,

As keepsakes’ joy they humbly dredge,

These carefree dreams near water’s edge.

THE END

      Dear Faith Reaper,

      I could have sworn I heard the distant clamour of mallet against steel as invisible citizens of a distant paradise were busy chiselling new, unknown words to describe and celebrate your loveliness :) Could there be another Princess amongst women, just like you who would maketh a man fight against the tide of his own heart's torrent no more?

      Thank you. I wasn't going to write for HP this year, but have been given a new reason to do so.

      Enjoy a fabulous day, and sending warmest regards to you and your family.

      Sincerely,

      R.Q.

      Oh, joy! I am so glad you were given a new reason to continue to write for HP! I could not imagine HP without your superb writes. I believe more here on HP should read your work, so I shall share here too.

      (((Hugs))) ... and smiles too,

      Faith Reaper

      This really is fantasmagorical! Love the pics, especially of the swan & the baby with tiger.

      This is truly a wild journey through the mind's images and worlds far away, then a glimpse of the glory of our own. One of your best, I think.

      Happy New Year to you and yours. Ann

      Hi Ann!

      I sincerely hope you had a smashing Christmas and a New Year celebration to remember.

      Glad you like this one, and I agree; I thought the one with the tiger was too cute to pass up. Thank you for such warm kindness and generosity of spirit in remarking upon this unusual kaleidoscope of the imagination, juxtaposed against this ball of rock we all rock on.

      With Kind Regards,

      R.Q.
