~ Phantasmagoria ~
~ Phantasmagoria ~
V1/ As dawn-rise steals a sallow lune,
And morning hoists aeneous balloon;
In glints, from hints of santa’s buckle,
Shift flagpoled hues of honeysuckle.
V2/ From docile scenes in pregnant yawn,
Aroused by schemes, reveille born;
Whence lone star blinks her sleepy orb,
In cornered mind of nature’s fraud.
V3/ Whenst someone, somewhere craves today
To lode inside and tame the fray,
Of ‘morrows, all whisked via secret breath
Which promised life, nay offered death.
V4/ Eburnean, sponge-like clouds of cream,
Yea, touched, by tip-toed reaching queen;
As countess butterfly rides the bow,
And mermaids splash way down below.
V5/ Fierce manticore prance shifting thermal,
In time’s abstract unwound diurnal;
Beneath high vaults of crystal cake,
In hoary sprinkles of niveous flake.
V6/ Lo, summer’s leys burst hyacinth rife,
When bairn believe nymph come to life.
Ballerinas cavort, pirouetting high,
‘Midst gambolling swans ‘neath domino sky.
V7/ Li’l Tommy blows bubbles from a rickety bed,
Bloat vaster than grandma’s tiny head;
Pseudonymous creatures leapfrog gleams,
Then hitch a ride to their next dream.
V8/ Hornbeams, may lower green bough sublime,
To comb their leaves with porcupine,
As raspberry tigers doth play-fight babies,
Then waltz a tune with rotund ladies.
V9/ Skimming diamonds ‘cross the lake,
Like pebbles they bounce a watery wake;
They halt, and plop, then sink in capture,
Below horizoned liquid rapture.
V10/ Unseen beings of agape,
Stretch out their fins to catch this prey,
As keepsakes’ joy they humbly dredge,
These carefree dreams near water’s edge.
