~~~ Rent Girl ~~~
Updated on May 20, 2013
~ Rent Girl ~
She engenders possibility,
This societal instability.
Her rapacious feudal lord,
A bane,and leit-motiv,
Of this pretty's daily fare.
Fleeting wealth;
An intermezzo in her operatic pain,
Plagues a languid economy,
When interspersed with his legal,weekly steal.
Intonating,orchestrated anger,
Like molten magma,
Conducted along the all too familiar course
Of that exacting misery;
Penury;
The constant companion who never leaves her,
Does not bless,
Nor is friends with another.
He mocks a nefarious valediction;
This overfed,underconcerned
Titled fiend,
Stares down his nose at his obscure prey.
Vain-glorious attire,
Accompanies careless affectations,
Only serve to wound,and dismiss
This penniless beauty.
But wait...
A burgeoning hope springs anew.
No longer inflamed,and defamed;
No more is she financially deflowered
By her ogreish tormentor.
His motives,weighed,
Upon scales of justice
And found wanting.
His fostered illusions,
Now tattered,and shattered.
The fickle hand of fortune
Spreads its' bounty in her favour;
He sins,she wins;
Now he's at the mercy
Of her mortgaged time.
Airs,and graces
Must he suffer at her whim,
As the brutish freak is tamed.
THE END
      Loved the turn of this--both in phrasing and the ending--
      No, the confusion trying to stay with the poem, but I do have a confusion of a different kind... shortly :-)
      Don’t mention it! Now that I’ve just finished eating, I’m thinking malnutrition might have been the cause of some of my confusion :D
      Because the night? How’d that happen… that’s not the right one… argh… the one I sent was supposed to be a response to the one you sent! I’ll have to send it again; I’m glad you enjoyed it though :-)
      A new one hot of the press? On my way!
      Yours Truly,
      Cat
      I liked this poem. It was interesting how you personafied debt (rent) and it was awesome that debt would no longer plague this lady. I admit I had to read it twice so I could understand it better, but I still liked it. Voted it up awesome!
