Is it ? Could it be ? the clown we want it to be ?

The nose is red, could this be our Fred ? but the smile is not a frown upside down !!!

Keeping the legend alive..

A costume was found someone said...

it was that of a clown…could it be our Fred ?

could it be they asked..the one from our town..?

the clown with the smile turned upside down ?

the little red headed kid who disappeared..

on a cold windy night back twenty-two years..?

It was found they said in a field not far from here..

By a farmer whose Pumpkins... were the best far and near..

And every year a winner at the state fair…

This farmer named Pete was very proud of his ware..

It was he that made sure every porch was supplied..

With a Pumpkin that flickered..

and showed the towns' sorrowful side…

So hug your children and hold them near...

because this is the anniversary of the 22nd year..

Celebrating the spirits and their one nights’ ride

will go down through the years…so take it in stride

It's only a legend, a story that's old..

For this special night of October..I'm told

PHILLYDREAMER....Good thinking...but I think the idea of the farmer would be too obvious...however...he is the one who provides ALL pumpkins in the town...hmmmmm

22 years is a long time. Did the farmer have something to do with Fred's disappearance? Is there a sinister secret about how he gets his pumpkins to grow?

Great story. And poor Fred, lost twenty-two years ago. What'll happen now to the town this Halloween?

kj force, your poem is spooky and sad, a tragedy and an unsolved mystery that haunts the pumpkin patch. Regards, snakeslane
