~ Brownie's Missing Leg : ) ~

Sponge chocolate name and Gobi hair,

I’m a sandy Hug, without a care;

Did count three legs upon the morn’,

Was sure of four, I could have sworn.

So, buried my muzzle ‘neath snuggly quilt, and

Dreamt about my missing stilt.

Asleep, I bolt for mommy’s flan,

Unaided by my ghostly gamb;

I slurp my jowls and roll my eyes,

Anticipating, Faith’s cooked pies.

Then all at once, I saw the ceiling

Tripped on a fly, that sent me reeling,

Blue buzzing bomb laughed up the worst,

Who’d beat me up and got there first.

When I awoke, to my surprise,

I couldn’t believe my big brown eyes;

In yawnful slumbers of doggy black,

I’d scoffed it for my midnight snack.

Now toileting up against a tree,

My tripod helps me freely wee;

No fur to lift up in the air,

It’s times like this, when life seems fair.

Oh, Butterscotch Brownie, colours so gay,

We wonder where you are today;

Are you in heaven, with limbs restored

For bringing joy as our reward?

Please wait for us in golden kennel,

Where love abounds your grassy fennel;

Run, like the wind, through heaven’s hall,

As Angels throw your tennis ball.

THE END

      Aaawweee, I promise I was just about to turn my computer off and get to bed, and right at that precise moment, an email from HP popped in to inform me that one of HP Town's phenomenal and sweetest poets, none other than "Romeos Quill" (well, it just said, Romeos Quill) had just published a hub. So, of course, I could not help but to take a peek and such a delight appeared right before my very eyes! I hope I am the very first one to comment, after wiping the tears from my eyes. I think I can type now ... I am deeply touched you would think of writing such a gift for me, especially about the best childhood pet anyone could ever have in this world, Brownie ... and that first image you have there looks exactly just like my Brownie Boy ... I kid you not! And to include about Cookie too, and that cat, I promise looks just like our Kitty did.

      Oh, now, that puppy Brownie is so sweet, for we truly did not know of him in his younger years, as you must have read and studied my poem, Brownie adopted us when he was grown, at least it appeared he was so.

      You are a special person to do such for me, and I will cherish this forever. You have a heart of gold. I am blessed and will have your poem in my head as I sleep. Thank you for blessing me and I will have a good start to my week, just because of your kindness in taking time to write this thoughtful poem.

      I just know Brownie, Cookie and Kitty are all wagging their tails approving of such ... thoughtfulness in the wonder of just where is his missing leg!

      Brilliant and beautiful. Up and more of course!

      (((HUGS)))

      This piece makes me remember my black Lab. He taught me unconditional love. Year after year we hunted together and in the end he almost refused to let it end. We enjoyed fifteen years together. Wherever I went my dog Magic went. I truly miss him.

      She hands out her hugs unconditionally and we just need to return love to her more.

      Faith Reaper and you, R.Q.. make hubpages a most worthwhile community.

      Dearest Faith Reaper,

      You do so much for other folk around her, that I took it upon myself to offer you a small token of gratitude for being such a lovely woman who brightens up so many people's days, including mine, and judging by the amount of comments on this offering so far, it seems I'm not alone in that thought - just look how many wonderful people love you! :)

      Now how did I manage to get those pics which look just like those amazing fuzzy friends of yours? Just fortunate I guess.

      I was always mindful of what special memories these were for you, and tried to handle with sensitivity, without encroaching too much on your personal space, but also didn't want to come across as totally sappy and cheap, because class like you deserves to be treated well.

      Thank you, and this is yours forever.

      With Warmest Regards,

      Sincere Regards Deergha, and hope that this evening envelops you with its peace and tranquility.

      Thank you, as always, for your blessings, which I return to you in abundance.

      Hi Writer Chuck,

      Black Labradors are perfect family pets, and am glad to hear your tale of you and your amazing friend Magic enjoying such a long, and fruitful time together. I used to have a black Lab, many years ago - but this was no ordinary dog; it was a monster of a hound, with an unusual growth spurt, which made him look like a miniature horse lol!

      It's so sad when they go, but they leave behind so much.

      Thank you, and hope you and Co. have a grand evening.

      All the Best,

      Hi Jamie,

      Yeah, you're right....this is based on Faith Reaper's , ' Ode For A Three-Legged Dog ', and deliberately so, with an imaginative fancy of where that missing pin went - Sherlock Holmes not required, as he wolfed it down as a midnight snack, by mistake, whilst dreaming of his momma's pies :)

      Have a cracking night-time.

      Come and read as often as you like dear Faith - copy it if you so desire because it belongs you. To be able to shine any joy into just one heart, I feel, probably like most writers, that their objective has neared its completion, or as close to completion as one can achieve.

      To answer your question, I do speak as such to the throng, though tailor, by gradation, depending upon the audience, or individual; you really are so kind and a dear, dear woman who overwhelms me sometimes.

      I have witnessed beauty of great magnitude and shall never be the same again.

      As the eyelids of eventide close, and the ladybirds are tucked up in nocturnal rapture, I wish the Lord's hand-maiden a pleasant remainder of her day in the Beautiful South of America the brave.

      @Deborah Sexton. RE: "What are the different names of God and what do they mean in the Bible?" question, posed by the wonderful Faith Reaper.

      It won't let me leave another comment on there, so I'll continue here, in order to hopefully, lend your answer an adequate reply.

      After the fall of the second Temple in Jerusalem, the exact pronunciation of YHWH was lost. Circumlocutions of the name are given in the Hebrew Masoretic Text but NOT pronunciations. However, the meaning of YHWH was never lost ( Genesis 21:33; Exodus 3:14; Revelation 4:8 ).

      The famous historian, Josephus Flavius. born at a time when God's name was known( if you believe his accounts ), said that the name was four vowels, which we know today ( War of the Jews, Book V, Chapter 5 ), and as you may also know, was considered too sacred to PRONOUNCE outside of the Temple.

      So, it is true that the exact PRONUNCIATION remains unknown, and still baffles scholars to this day, being replaced by ' Adonai ' ( " Lord, Master " ) during prayer, and ' HaShem ( " The Name ") at other times, in traditional Judaism.

      Jesus Christ is the name by which all are saved:-

      " Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. " ( King James Bible Acts 4:12 ).

      See also:-

      Matthew 1:21: Acts 10:43; Acts 13:26.

      @Deborah Sexton,

      YHWH/YHVH are vowels in English.

      In Hebrew, they are called semi-vowels/long vowels, i.e. Y ( Yod), heh (h), and waw (v), are three of the four.

      My dearest, and most lovely Juliet, who arraigns herself with the glorious ' nom de voyage ', whose joy becometh all mine to respond to her beauteous, resounding tones of Faith Reaper,

      To declare that your enchanting radiance was ne'er missed, as the scorching Sahara sands miss the gentle splashes from the first patters of summer rainfall, wouldst demote thee to captain of untruth, and a most miserable creature indeed.

      I trust you and your family are in good health and looking forward to the forthcoming festivities which this seasons boasts, and has unfurled with commemorative hope in the birth of this world's Saviour.

      Life has been on high alert these past few days on this side of the wild Atlantic, as this fishing town, local villages and surrounding environs have been on severe flood alert, so consequently, have been launching contingency plans, and making evacuation preparations, whilst we're trying to tame the foaming leviathan which King Cnut could not. The winds have been so strong, that an ancient tree just up the road was torn from its very roots to fall upon steel railings which folded like tin foil. There prevails one last high tide tonight, then that should be the worst of it over with, though the gales have subsided now. We've been fortunate so far, and am grateful for that, but have been on watch alert in case any should fall foul of the elements.

      Thank you so much for caring ( you'll never know what that that means to me ), and I wish you a wonderful day ahead in the ' Beautiful South ';

      Indubitably yours, with sincerest affection,
