" Wrinkles are for Clothes "

fine lines.....

WHOA !!! who's that in the mirror ?
WHOA !!! who's that in the mirror ?

" When did that happen ? "

Wrinkle, wrinkle on my face…

Couldn't you have found some other place ?

What made you furrow between my eyes ?

And all those creams, they are nothing but lies….

When I look in the mirror, all I can see…

Is a whited haired person staring back at me….

Then there are the lines , which run down the sides of my nose…

Running in circles, round my lips, down my neck and into my clothes….

Speaking of clothes , isn’t that where the wrinkles should be ?

Is nature playing a trick on me ?

Or is this a sign “ old “ is sneaking up on me ?

It seems only yesterday I was a young girl .. and had my whole life ahead of me…

So simple..so free……

Which don’t take me wrong I have enjoyed my life’s ride…

And there isn’t much in my life, I haven’t tried….

But it should would be nice if I could just see…

myself with one less wrinkle…when I looked back at me…..

epigramman..Chopin via the piano and coffee ? OMG..are you stalking me ? I start almost every morning that way just sitting in my garden..of course there are those mornings when I sit and do brandy/coffee and listen to Rolling Stones/Rod Stewart/ bad a** heavy duty rock..poolside..ones a writing morning and the other is a very delete, delete, delete day..guess which one is which ? Love George and Erma, two of my favourite (out of the box ) thank you for the very prestigious compliment...glad you like my write..

.....yes this is so witty but yet true for all of us at one point in our lives - remember Erma Bombeck? You have a style all of your own (I can tell by the wonderful comments you give me) but I often think of Erma Bombeck when read your words and that is the highest compliment because she came from the same school as George Carlin and they (like you) saw the poetic truth and irony in everything - almost like holding up a mirror and letting us see what we look like -

hubbravo - if I am one of a kind then that means 'we are two of a kind' lol lol

lake erie time 7:59am with the heat blowing , my first cup of coffee and some nice Chopin piano music

This was so fun to read. And if it was just wrinkles we have to bear as we get older, it wouldn't be so bad. It's true the old saying: Getting old ain't for sissies. (P.S. My profile photo was taken a number of years ago. I'm not that young anymore.) Voting up, funny and sharing.

don't smoke, eliminate stress and get plenty of excercise..well it must be true because

my cat has NO wrinkles !!!! later...

Lol. I am NOT saying that I'm old by any means, but this is the first year that I have started to notice 'fine lines' in my face. I'm 34. I'm in the middle right now...I don't mind them, but I don't love the.

DREAM ON...Have you tired hitting your mirror with a hairbrush ? It will have a crackle affect and Voila ! wrinkles will cease, at least in the reflection...you're right about the eyes..it's not the wrinkles fading it's the eyes....! thanks for your comments,

glad you enjoyed it.....by the way were you affected by the "internet bug" at all...?

Very funny.I have so many eye wrinkles (crows feet) I think more like a fleet of crows that came to stay and never left.Maybe all those years and lack of sleep takes its toll.Who put all the forehead wrinkles in when I wasn't looking. Now the dark circles under the eyes get all the attention.By late afternoon they seem to fade or my eyes can't see so good but I like it none the less.

So funny that you refer to that song. None of my friends have ever heard it other than when I sing it!!!! LOL Accept I was taught to sing it with "pimple". Wrinkle or pimple - I want neither one.

Very cute and amusing poem with great flow. It does get sad sometimes waking up every day and looking into the mirror and seeing an increasingly older person stare back at you. I look forward to many more years and more wrinkles in the years to come :-)

thelyricwriter...aging is a normal process and we can not "halt" it..but we can fill our days with positive/excercise/healty nutrition/inner child syndrome..and by that I mean taking off your shoes and walk barefoot in a stream, fly a kite, eat a lollipop, take each day one at a time..be yourself and enjoy the simpliest things..I like to listen to rock'n'roll music and dance with my G-children, thinking young keeps you young...hope this helps you not to be scared...thanks for your comment and have a great week-end...

KJ, very clever! I often think about getting older and it scares me to death. It truly does. Although I get the comical aspect, which this is a great poem, I just fear it. That is life though. We all will face it. Cute and funny poem KJ. Best wishes.

I've had to deal with them since my late 20's. They just sneak up on you, but Id much rather see wrinkles than the artificial botox expression.
