11/11/11 : the tears came down from heaven: a poem

Updated on April 10, 2012

heavens cry for those who die

Source

When I was just a child,

my grampa told me this,

“the heavens cry for those who die,

but you can make a wish ...

You can ask the souls for help,

but only if you're true,

to help someone in need

is something they might do"

As I laid in bed last night,

and listened to it start,

the sound of mother nature wailing,

was pulling at my heart

Although I knew this day was coming,

I hoped it might not be,

that she would sob all night and day,

for the loss of what she sees

we all need food and water to grow

Source

It happens every year

on this day of memories,

but this year the rain was louder,

than it’s been for centuries

She has watched us use our hate,

to destroy ones we should love,

she has watched the earth be pillaged,

and money worshiped far above...

Above the water, food and love,

we all need to grow;

the earth, people, and creatures,

everything we know

She knows within our hearts,

no one really wants to die,

it's part of human nature

to protect, love and survive

a million souls were calling

Source

As the tears fell down upon me,

from the sky and loved ones left,

A million souls were calling,

from the heavens at unrest

They gave their lives to bring us peace,

and look what has been done,

more and more have lost their lives,

in battles never won

The earth and sky today,

on 11/11/11, at 11:11,

shed their last tear, for this sad year

for those lining up to heaven

And as heaven's tears ran down my face,

I said a quiet prayer,

I asked the souls to help us change,

and make us more aware

To stop the raping of the earth,

we seem to do so well,

to learn to love, respect and help

all the people of our world.

And as I finished quietly,

and my heartfelt prayer was done,

heaven's tears they went away

and turned into the sun …

Dim, I really believe war and the results are sad and not the desired outcome, but it is always the same. It makes me sad. Thank you for appreciating the reminder.

You certainly have a gift. I've made a couple attempts at poetry, but I don't think it's my thing. Novels are a lot easier for me. :)
