Slavery Still Exists In 2012. It's Called A J.O.B!
Slavery still exists even in the year 2012
Slavery is a system under which people are treated as property to be bought and sold or forced to work and it still exists in 2012, only it's called a job.
There you have it. I rest my case.
End of Hub.
Only joking, please read on.
Picture The Scene.......
21st Century Britain.
Workers in 2012 scared for their jobs are being forced to work long hours with very few breaks in order not to be made redundant or even fired proving that slavery still exists in 2012.
People in Britain are working longer than ever, some going on beyond retirement age because the state pension is not sufficient to live on. 45 years of paying in to a system which gives very little back in retirement.
Now tell me that slavery no longer exists.
Why Is This You May Well Ask?
For one thing people are living longer, much longer, due to better diets and living conditions as well as better healthcare in terms of advances in medicine.
With approximately 3 million unemployed in Britain it means there are less tax payers paying into the system so the Government has to borrow money to pay for future pension payments.
This is partly why the country is in such a state. A deficit of £Billions and not enough tax revenue's being collected from companies and private individuals because there aren't enough working to pay contributions.
It has been in the news of late that the Inland Revenue has been doing deals with struggling large scale companies who can't afford their tax bills that they will reduce the tax burden or liability to pay and after 10 years they will write off what is unpaid.
This is happening while private individuals are being targeted who owe tax from self employment and are struggling to pay small amounts in comparison to the large companies. These people are being subjected to daily harassing phone calls, debt colloector visits and seizure of property to cover the amount of tax owed. One rule for one and another rule for the others.
It just doesn't make sense.
This is why I believe that we are living with slavery in 2012 because we are being forced to work against our will in some cases to pay for others who avoid paying their way. Tax evasion in my book is far worse than someone struggling to pay their tax liability because they have every intention of paying what they owe. Tax evaders have no intention to pay.
Every man and woman should be allowed to be a free agent and not be shackled to the tax system. They should have the right to choose what he or she does with his or her life.
Freedom To Choose
How can you have the freedom to choose when we are forced to work these ridiculous hours and in conditions which should have disappeared a long time ago.
Europe has a 35 hour working week. In Britain if you work less than the 47 hours working time directive you are lucky.
Most people I know are working 60+ hours per week.
At the end of the week you have nothing left to give. When working all these hours you are no longer effective and I have said before in other articles, you are just going through the motions
The problem is, I don't know what the answer is and I am sure many millions of other people think the same.Day after day they just do the same thing and it goes on. Working like slaves for companies and Governments who only look out for themselves. The rest of us are just numbers on a clock card.
Daily Job Losses
Company closures and redundancy threat is big on the agenda at the moment. Large, once profitable companies are hitting the wall everyday. Workers are put under threat of redundancy because of Government measures and cut backs.
Local council services are disappearing, children and elderly along with the most vulnerable in society are suffering. Like the old adage says ' The rich get richer and the poor get poorer'. How true that is today.
What about the future
I can't imagine what it is going to be like for our Grandchildren. The debt of this country now, will still be being paid for in 50 years time and if the recession and cut backs continue, who knows what will happen. Countries and Governments are, in all honesty Bankrupt, but they are allowed to continue in this farsical way riding the waves in the boom times and saving nothing for the down times or the bust in boom and bust!
We Should Be Upbeat.
It is difficult to be upbeat when writing about such dismal times, but good times will return. The only problemwith that is nobody will do it for us. If we want the good times back we will have to create the good times. Authority is seeing to it, along with the media that we all feel down and miserable. You never hear about good news in the news.
The media thrives on gloom and despondency. The time has gone to shift that thinking and concentrate on talking the economies of countries up. A shot of positivity is what's needed. I for one am going to do my best to challenge the negativity.
2012 is the year of the London Olympics and should be a fantastic spectacle. The world will see how good Britain is at hosting the big events and this should be seen as a major factor in talking up the country.
2012 is also our Queen's Diamond Jubilee year. 60 years as Queen and still going strong.
What an achievement.
See, you feel better now, right?
It just goes to show that if I can talk things up then everybody can. You just have to want to.
