A Life for a Life is an Eternal Death Collar - A poem by Annabella

Why do these eyes of mine cry?

When I see the innocent needlessly die?
Yet blurred is my vision,
it makes the feeling sting twice...
Maybe the water tries
to wash away all this demise-
As nothing equates to what we have all felt,
it is not just a case of "apologize".
Stealing the breath of life itself
Is something you just can't rationalize,
when it is in the name of protecting another
a life for a life is an eternal death collar.
Why do these eyes of mine cry?
Do I mourn for the dead who needlessly died?
Or do I mourn for the living who mourn with their cries?

Do not justify taking a life of another,
When it is in the name of protecting-
a life for a life is an eternal death collar.
